Let G = (V, E) be a connected graph and d(x, y) be the distance between the vertices x and y in G. A set of vertices W resolves a graph G if every vertex is uniquely determined by its vector of distances to the vertices in W. A metric dimension of G is the minimum cardinality of a resolving set of G and is denoted by dim(G). In this paper, Cycle, Path, Harary graphs and their rooted product as well as their connectivity are studied and their metric dimension is calculated. It is proven that metric dimension of some graphs is unbounded while the other graphs are constant, having three or four dimensions in certain cases.

Let G = (V, E) be a connected graph and d(u, v) denote the distance between the vertices u and v in G. A set of vertices W resolves a graph G if every vertex is uniquely determined by its vector of distances to the vertices in W. A metric dimension of G is the minimum cardinality of a resolving set of G and is denoted by dim(G). Let J2n,m be a m-level gear graph obtained by m-level wheel graph W2n,m ≅ mC2n + k1 by alternatively deleting n spokes of each copy of C2n and J3n be a generalized gear graph obtained by alternately deleting 2n spokes of the wheel graph W3n. In this paper, the metric dimension of certain gear graphs J2n,m and J3n generated by wheel has been computed. Also this study extends the previous result given by Tomescu et al. in 2007.

In this research paper, we will compute the topological indices (degree based) such as the ordinary generalized geometric-arithmetic (OGA) index, first and second Gourava indices, first and second hyper-Gourava indices, general Randic´ index R γ G , for γ = ± 1 , ± 1 / 2 , harmonic index, general version of the harmonic index, atom-bond connectivity (ABC) index, SK, SK1, and SK2 indices, sum-connectivity index, general sum-connectivity index, and first general Zagreb and forgotten topological indices for various types of chemical networks such as the subdivided polythiophene network, subdivided hexagonal network, subdivided backbone DNA network, and subdivided honeycomb network. The discussion on the aforementioned networks will give us very remarkable results by using the aforementioned topological indices.

The degree-based topological indices are numerical graph invariants which are used to correlate the physical and chemical properties of a molecule with its structure. Para-line graphs are used to represent the structures of molecules in another way and these representations are important in structural chemistry. In this article, we study certain well-known degree-based topological indices for the para-line graphs of V-Phenylenic 2D lattice, V-Phenylenic nanotube and nanotorus by using the symmetries of their molecular graphs.

Graph theory has a large number of applications in the fields of computer networking, robotics, Loran or sonar models, medical networks, electrical networking, facility location problems, navigation problems etc. It also plays an important role in studying the properties of chemical structures. In the field of telecommunication networks such as CCTV cameras, fiber optics, and cable networking, the metric dimension has a vital role. Metric dimension can help us in minimizing cost, labour, and time in the above discussed networks and in making them more efficient. Resolvability also has applications in tricky games, processing of maps or images, pattern recognitions, and robot navigation. We defined some new graphs and named them s − middle graphs, s -total graphs, symmetrical planar pyramid graph, reflection symmetrical planar pyramid graph, middle tower path graph, and reflection middle tower path graph. In the recent study, metric dimension of these path-related graphs is computed.

In view of the successful applications of graph theory, relationships between the biological activity and chemical structure have been developed. One of the popular topics in graph theory is problems relating to topological indices. Degree-based topological indices, distance-based topological indices, and counting-related topological indices are various types of topological indices. Physiochemical properties such as boiling point and stability of chemical compounds are correlated by these topological indices. A topological index of a graph is a numerical quantity obtained from the graph mathematically. A cactus graph is a connected graph in which no edge lies in more than one cycle. In this study, we have derived certain degree-based topological indices for some families of graphs consisting of graph obtained by the rooted product of paths and cycles and two types of cactus graph (paracactus and orthocactus) with the help of the generalized Zagreb index.
