The objective of this study was to perform a cross-cultural adaptation of the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire - Short Form 2006 for Brazil. The instrument was applied in six hospitals in three regions of Brazil. Content, face, and construct validity was performed. Analysis of the instrument's reliability was performed by verifying the items' internal consistency through Cronbach's alpha. The sample was composed of 1301 professionals working in clinical and surgical wards of six hospitals. Confirmatory analysis showed that the model including 41 items was satisfactory. The Portuguese version presented an alpha of 0.89. The item-total correlations among the domains were moderate to strong, except for the domain Stress Recognition. We concluded that the instrument's version adapted to Portuguese and applied in our sample is valid and reliable.

This study assessed potential drugs interactions in intensive care patients at a university hospital in Ceará, northeast Brazil. Of 102 patients studied, 72.5% were exposed to 311 potential drug-drug interactions; 64% of them were females aged 60 years or more and hospital stay was at least 9 days. A statistically significant association was found between number of drugs used and the occurrence of drug interactions. A total of 1,140 drugs were scheduled to be administered concomitantly; of these, 74% had potential for drug interactions. As for the classification of these events, 48.2% had a pharmacokinetic profile; 55.4% were of slow onset; 54.7% had moderate severity; and 60.6% were well-documented in the literature. The most common clinical action taken was 'to monitor signs and symptoms'. Nursing staff can perform 80% of preventive actions to avoid undesirable effects of drug interactions. However, nurses need to have adequate knowledge about drug action mechanisms and triggering factors associated to drug interactions.

Objective: to describe the process of validating a multimedia application on a mobile platform to promote foot care for people with diabetes. Method: a technological production and methodological type study. Content and appearance were validated by 39 judges (29 nursing judges and ten information and communication technology judges and 15 people from the target audience). Results: nursing judges made it possible to validate the material with a total Content Validity Index of 0.95, a non-significant binomial test for most items and Cronbach’s alpha of 0.92, information and communication technology judges with Suitability Assessment of Materials of 99.2% and the target audience with an agreement index of 98%. Conclusion: the application proved to be valid and reliable for use in clinical practice as an educational technology to promote foot care for people with diabetes.

Objective: to assess the culture of safety in three public hospitals. Method: transversal study undertaken in three Brazilian public hospitals, with health professionals through applying the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire (SAQ). Scores greater than or equal to 75 were considered positive. Results: a total of 573 professionals participated in the study, including nurse technicians and auxiliary nurses 292 (51%), nurses 105 (18.3%), physicians 59 (10.3%), and other professionals 117 (20.4%). The mean of the SAQ varied between 65 and 69 in the three hospitals. Among the domains, however, 'Job satisfaction' presented a higher score, and the opposite was observed for the domain 'Perceptions of management'. The outsourced professionals presented a better perception of the culture of safety than did the statutory professionals. The professionals with higher education presented a better perception of the stressing factors than did the professionals educated to senior high school level. Conclusion: the level of the culture of safety found is below the ideal. The managerial actions are considered the main contributing factor to the culture's weakness; however, the professionals demonstrated themselves to be satisfied with the work.

Objective: to identify in the scientific literature the educational technologies used in the health education process related to stroke. Method: integrative review, whose eligibility criteria of the articles were: match the keywords “health education” and “stroke”; be a research paper; be in Portuguese, English and Spanish; be available electronically in the databases LILACS, PubMed/Medline, Scopus and CINAHL; year of publication between 2000 and 2016. Results: 24 publications were found. The analysis was carried out by means of analytical and interpretive readings. There were many educational technologies used in the health education process for stroke. Final considerations: the printed material for general public stood out, aiming to the recognition of alert signs of the disease and the emergency decision-making before suspicious cases of the disease.
