Prof. Sergio Alexandre Gehrke holds doctorate degrees in two fields: the first is a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Pontificia Catholic University, Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 2010, and the other is
an International Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the Universidad Miguel Hernandez, Elche/Alicante, Spain, obtained in 2020. In 2018, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Materials Engineering in the NUCLEMAT of Pontificia Catholic University, Porto Alegre, Brazil. He is currently the Director of the
Postgraduate Program in Implantology of the Bioface/UCAM/PgO (Montevideo, Uruguay), Director of the Cathedra of Biotechnology of the Catholic University of Murcia (Murcia, Spain), an Extraordinary Full Professor of the Catholic University of Murcia (Murcia, Spain), as well as the Director of the private
research center Biotecnos-Technology and Science (Montevideo, Uruguay). Applied biomaterials, cellular and molecular biology, and dental implants are among his research interests.
