In this paper, (Tb0.7Lu0.3)2O3 magneto-optical transparent ceramics with different ZrO2 doping levels (0~5 at%) were prepared by hydrogen sintering and sequential HIP technique using ZrO2 as a sintering aid. The effect of ZrO2 doping content on the microstructure and optical properties of (Tb0.7Lu0.3)2O3 ceramics was analyzed. We found that the optimal doping content of ZrO2 was 3 at%. The transmittance of 3 at% ZrO2-doped (Tb0.7Lu0.3)2O3 ceramics at the wavelength of 1064 nm was 74.84 %, and the Verdet constant was approximately 275.28 rad·T−1·m−1 at the wavelength of 650 nm.
Nd3+, Y3+: SrF2 transparent ceramics were successfully synthesized by two methods: hot-forming and hot-pressing techniques. The mechanical properties and optical properties of the hot-formed Nd3+, Y3+: SrF2 transparent ceramics were much better than that of single crystal. On the other hand, the transmittance of the hot-formed transparent ceramics with different deformation rate reached up to 90% at 1054 nm, which is superior to the hot-pressed ceramics. Furthermore, the fracture toughness of hot-formed Nd3+, Y3+: SrF2 transparent ceramics with the deformation rate of 51% reached up to 0.70 MPa m1/2, which is nearly 1.5 times higher than that of as-grown single crystal. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the hot-formed ceramic is larger than that of the single crystal at 1053 nm under continuous-wave (CW) laser operation. The thermal conductivity of Nd3+, Y3+: SrF2 single crystal and hot-formed ceramics were also discussed.
High-purity, fully dense Ti2AlC samples were synthesized by hot pressing process. Their corrosion rate and corrosion type after immersed in concentrated and dilute HNO3, HCl and H2SO4 were obtained. The corrosion potential, corrosion current and potentiodynamic polarization curves were measured by electrochemical methods. Corrosion process is pitting at first, then intergranular corrosion, while exfoliation at last. The corrosion rate increases with time. The corrosion rate reaches the biggest in concentrated HNO3 while reaches the slowest in dilute HCl. The corrosion rate in the concentrated solution is faster than that in dilute solution, except in H2SO4.Electrochemical test shows the corrosion current reaches the biggest in the dilute H2SO4 and reaches the smallest in dilute HNO3. Ti2AlC shows passive behavior in all acid solution, and the passivation interval is the widest in dilute H2SO4.
