Dr.
Yuan Liu graduated from the Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences
in 2015 with a doctorate degree in soil science. She then worked in the
unconventional water resources security utilization team at the Institute of
Farmland Irrigation, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. She has
expertise in the research of rhizospheric electrochemistry and chemical
behavior of nutrients and pollutants such as heavy metals, antibiotics, and antibiotic
resistance genes during farmland irrigation with unconventional water resources
such as livestock wastewater and reclaimed water. She found that long-term
reclaimed water irrigation had no significant effect on antibiotic resistance
gene composition in greenhouse soil. She is also interested in the remediation
of heavy metal-contaminated soils and the reduction of greenhouse gases. In
addition, she advocates considering physical properties such as soil structure
when assessing soil microbial activity.
