Pedro Arezes is a full professor (Professor Catedrático) of human factors engineering at the School of Engineering of the University of Minho and an invited scholar at MIT and Harvard University, USA.
He is also the dean of engineering at the University of Minho (www.eng.uminho.pt) and the national director of the MIT Portugal Program (www.mitportugal.org). Pedro Arezes has been a member/coordinator of more than 30 international and national externally funded research projects in the domains of ergonomics, occupational safety, and hygiene. He was the supervisor of more than 70 (concluded) MSc theses in several Portuguese universities and 19 concluded PhD theses. He currently supervises six ongoing PhD projects. He was also the host supervisor of some post-doc projects with colleagues who came from different countries. He participated in 50+ scientific committees of international congresses, being a member of the scientific and organizing committees of some of the major scientific events in the domain of human factors, such as SHO (in Portugal), AHFE (in US), ORP (in Spain and South America), and WOS (Europe). As an invited lecturer, he has presented more than 100 invited lectures/presentations, half of them abroad, in countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Indonesia, Italy, Peru, Poland, Spain, The Netherlands, Turkey, the UK, the US, and Sweden.
