Francesco Ciardelli was a Full Professor of Macromolecular Chemistry at the University of Pisa from 1975 until 2010. Now, he is a Professor Emeritus of Industrial Chemistry. He undertook his postdoc at UC London and the Max-Planck institute in Germany. As a visiting Professor at Berkeley, Kyoto and Paris Universities, the results of his research have been the basis of more than 380 papers in international journals, more than 250 invited presentations, 22 industrial patents and 9 books.
In 2010, he became CEO of the SPIN-PET S.r.l., which is devoted to the transfer of technology to industry in the field of polymers and advanced materials. His main results relate to the formulation of
polyolefin adhesives, plastic recycling, blends and composites including
nanocomposites, energy production and catalysis.
