Dr. Laura Contalbrigo is a Veterinary Officer at the National Reference Centre for Animal Assisted Interventions (NRC AAI) of the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie. In 2004, she graduated in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Padua and in 2008, she obtained her Ph.D. in Veterinary Clinical Sciences from the same University. In 2012, she received a post-graduate diploma in “Inspection of Food of Animal Origin” at the University of Bologna and one in “Science and Medicine of Laboratory Animals” at the University of Milan in 2017. In 2022, she completed her Master's in Clinical Ethology of Companion Animals at the University of Pisa and the course as a Veterinarian expert in AAI in July of the same year. Since 2009, she has been working at the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie. She is currently a member of the Ethics Committee of the same Institute. Since June 2015, she has joined the NRC AAI, leading the Research and Development. Her main research topics are animal emotions, welfare and behaviour of companion animals, horses and donkeys. Moreover, since 2018, she has carried out institutional activities for the sector of assistance dogs at national and international levels, and she has joined Technical Working Groups of the Italian Standardization Body, contributing to the definition of technical standards for the professional qualification of the dog sector.
