Qiang Guo received the M.S. degree in signal and information processing and the Ph.D. degree in electronic science and technology from Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai, China, in 2001 and 2003, respectively, with a focus on in-orbit evaluations of different specifications (i.e. spectral and spatial resolutions as well as detection sensitivity) for spaceborne remotely sensed instruments. Since 2003, he has been working in National Satellite Meteorological Center, China Meteorological Administration and obtained the title of professor in 2009. Currently, he is the Chief Designer of the ground segment for the first microwave observation mission on geostationary platform (FY-4M). His research interests include in-orbit calibrations in aspects of spectral, radiometric and spatial characteristics, geolocation, and quantitative retrievals of atmospheric products, i.e. temperature and humidity profiles, precipitation and wind by using both infrared and microwave measurements from space.
