Dr. Comez graduated from the University of Perugia in 1996 and obtained a Ph.D. from the University of Camerino in 2001. She was a postdoc at the Perugia Physics Department and, in 2002, became a researcher at CNR-INFM. Since 2008, she has been a CNR-IOM researcher. From March 2016 to 2020, she headed the UOS-IOM in Perugia. Her topical scientific interests include structural and dynamical studies of glasses, hydrogels, proteins, and canonical and non-canonical DNA under different environmental conditions. She has a background as a spectroscopist and experience both in in-house techniques, such as Brillouin and Raman scattering, DLS, EDLS, CD, and UV-Vis, and in large-scale facilities around the world: ELETTRA (Italy), ESRF and ILL (France), ISIS (UK), MLZ (Germany), and Spring-8 (Japan). Has co-published about 90 peer-reviewed papers and two book chapters. Since 2017, she has been the director of the biennial workshop/school "Frontiers in Water Biophysics", which takes place in Erice, Sicily (Italy), at the Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture. Has presented several contributions to international conferences and research centres. Is/was a tutor for several Master's and Ph.D. students. A member of the Consorzio Interuniversitario Nazionale per la Scienza e Tecnologia dei Materiali (INSTM) and the European Molecular Liquids Group (EMLG). Since 2014, she has been on the board of the "Ph.D. Science and Technology for Physics and Geology School" at UNIPG.
