Prof. Tie Liu is currently a researcher at the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his bachelor’s degree from East China University of Science and Technology in 1999 and his master’s and doctoral degrees from the Catholic University of Leuven in 2006 and 2011, respectively. In 2012, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Catholic University of Leuven, working on hydrology and water resources research. From 2013 to 2015, he was a visiting scholar at the University of Wyoming. In addition, he is also the Deputy Secretary General of the Xinjiang Natural Resources Society and the Deputy Secretary General of the Xinjiang Geographical Society. His research topics mainly include water quality, rivers, hydrological modeling, hydraulics, hydrologic and water resource modeling and simulation, water balance, watershed hydrology, and surface hydrology.
