Research Professor at the National Polytechnic Institute (CIIDIR-Sinaloa Unit). Holds a Ph.D. in Science with a focus on the Use, Management, and Conservation of Natural Resources from the Northwest Center for Biological Research (CIBNOR). Current research areas include Aquaculture Nutrition, with an emphasis on the use of agricultural by-products. Has led 46 research projects (39 internal and 7 external), supervised 29 graduate students (21 Master’s; 8 Ph.D.), and 30 undergraduate students (2 thesis students; 28 internship or professional practice students; 8 social service participants). Has published 50 articles (41 indexed in JCR, 7 in ISI, and 2 outreach publications). Completed research stays at: a) University of Barcelona, b) National Laboratory of Microbiota and Gut Microbiome, and c) Aquatic Genetic Inc. in Canada. Member of the National System of Researchers (Level I); Honorary Researcher of the State Council of Science and Technology of the Government of the State of Sinaloa; Coordinator of the Biotechnology Network of the National Polytechnic Institute (2019–2022), considered the largest research network within the Institute.
