Han Haitjema studied Experimental Physics at Utrecht University and obtained his PhD from Delft University of Technology. He worked at the Van Swinden Laboratory as a group leader of dimensional metrology and at Eindhoven University of Technology as an assistant professor of 'precision metrology' in the Precision Engineering group of Prof. Schellekens. From 2004 to 2018, he was the director of the Mitutoyo Research Center Europe. Since 2018, he has been a professor of Dimensional Metrology in the Mechanical Engineering department of KU Leuven.
