Irene Gouvinhas (H-index: 15, number of publications: 37; >600 citations) is a full time integrated researcher from CITAB and Inov4Agro, where she has been cooperating in several R&D projects. She works in the areas of identification, separation, and recovery of functional molecules from different natural products, as well as their implementation as ingredients and bioactive compounds in food, with an ultimate goal to extract high added-value molecules and reuse them in the food chain. She is a reviewer for international journals and she is also Guest Editor of some Special Issues of the Molecules journal. Furthermore, she is a member of the editorial board of the journal Frontiers in Nutrition. She was also editor of a book entitled "Innovation in the Food Sector Through the Valorization of Food and Agro-Food By-Products". She has also been teaching several classes in UTAD, from the courses of Nutrition Sciences and Oenology, has supervised 19 students of Bachelor and Master thesis degrees (18 concluded), and is currently supervising four PhD students (one concluded). She served as expert evaluator for co-promotion project calls and SIFIDE projects at the National Innovation Agency and jury for the selection of grantees and research contracts within the scope of research projects.
