The subject of this paper is the evaluation of monetary policy reaction function on panel data of 37 world economies, both advanced and emerging markets, during the period of 1995Q1 – 2018Q3. The paper aims to evaluate the role and importance of the exchange rate in monetary policy reaction function depending on the level of economic development. For this purpose, a relevant set of unbalanced panel data was formed with a balanced relationship between developed and emerging market economies. The methodology of empirical research is based on the econometric assessment of monetary policy reaction function within which the central bank adjusts its key policy rate to the dynamics of inflation, output gap and fluctuations of the real effective exchange rate. The research results confirm the hypothesis that the exchange rate represents a statistically significant variable only in the monetary policy reaction function of emerging market economies. In contrast, adequate specification of developed economies’ monetary policy rule includes only standard macroeconomic fundamentals – inflation and output gap.

Advanced digital solutions, modern technologies and artificial intelligence have fundamentally transformed the pace of change and existing business models in the tourism and hospitality (T&H) sector. Implementing advanced digital solutions through new and improved tourism products and services can transform the customer experience while increasing the sector's productivity and resilience. However, in order to adequately leverage advanced digital technologies, the T&H sector's workforce must have a sufficient level of digital skills, competencies, and capabilities. Accordingly, this paper aims to assess the digital skills of the T&H sector employees in Serbia and identify the key factors that influence their level. The findings suggest that the digital skills of employees in the T&H sector in Serbia should be improved through formal and informal education in order for the sector to reposition itself in a more resilient and sustainable manner and in line with the 2030 Agenda.

Digital labour platforms provide lower barrier access to employment and income generation for all, having a great potential to create almost equal opportunities for persons with different forms of disabilities to engage in the labour market while contributing to their inclusive employment. However, to be able to provide adequate services to their distant employers, remote workers must possess a sufficient level of digital competences, skills and knowledge. Accordingly, the paper seeks to assess the level of digital competences of persons with disabilities in Serbia and to establish whether there are any gender-related differences in that regard. The results obtained aim to identify the gap between the existing and required competences for starting an entrepreneurial venture or finding a job using freelance platforms. The paper’s main contribution reflects the fact that digital competences of persons with disabilities in Serbia in the context of their self-employment are a topic insufficiently explored in the existing literature.

The COVID-19 crisis has accelerated digital transformation and expanded the usage of advanced ICT solutions globally. Moreover, the expansion of remote work platforms and the tendency of modern businesses to outsource part of their business operations to individuals in remote locations creates significant potential for finding employment. According to available data sources, it is estimated that about 700,000 persons in Serbia face some form of disability. Of that number, only about 13% are employed. As a consequence of facing discrimination, persons with disabilities have a greater tendency towards long-term unemployment and complete withdrawal from the labor market. The Internet and advanced digital technologies provide equal opportunities for persons with disabilities to get involved in the digital labor market and increase their chances to find employment and generate income. This paper aims to discuss the potential of digital labor platforms for lowering the long-term unemployment of persons with disabilities in Serbia. Accordingly, the paper provides data on the level of digital competencies of persons with disabilities, since they are fundamental for obtaining employment on digital labor platforms. For that purpose, the standard desk-research method and secondary data analysis of relevant literature, strategic documents and public policies have been performed. The research results provide a deeper insight into the current level of digital competencies of persons with disabilities and suggest a potential solution for improving their chances of obtaining employment and generating income.

The subject of this paper is the evaluation of the position of women entrepreneurs in Serbia in the aftermath of COVID-19 outbreak. The research aims to shed light on the main threats and constraints which women entrepreneurs in Serbia are currently facing due to the global pandemic. We hypothesize that women entrepreneurs in Serbia are particularly affected by the negative effects of COVID-19 health crisis. With that regard the standard desk-research method - the analysis and comparison of secondary data was combined with the case study method that included ten in-depth interviews with selected women entrepreneurs in Serbia during the period January - February 2021. The main conclusions are that empowering women entrepreneurs through various support programs as well as financial assistance provided by the state should be in the focus of decision-makers in the years to come. Furthermore, women entrepreneurs in Serbia should consider regional networking as well as entering the new markets as alternative survival strategies.
