Background: Ameloblastoma is a neoplasm classified as a benign epithelial odontogenic tumor of the jaws, grow slowly and are locally invasive. The aim of the present study was to investigate the incidence, treatment, and complication of patients with ameloblastoma in East-Indonesia during six years retrospective study. Material and Methods: This retrospective study included 84 patients who were diagnosed with ameloblastoma from 2011 to 2016. There were 56 patients with treatment data available. Data from each patient, including gender, age, histologic type, the size of the tumor, radiologic form, tumor location, type of treatment, and complication were reviewed and analyzed retrospectively. Results: Fourteen patients were diagnosed with unicystic ameloblastoma (25%), thirty two patients with multicystic follicular ameloblastoma (57%) and ten patients with an unspecified multicystic ameloblastoma (18%). A total of about 35 patients were treated conservatively (62.5%) and 21 patients were treated radically (37.5%). Swelling was present as a pre-operative complication in all 56 cases (100%). There were no complaints concerning speech. Conclusions: The majority findings of the histologic type were multicystic ameloblastoma and their location were in the mandible. Most ameloblastoma were treated conservatively and reconstructions were made with only titanium plates and not bone graft.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common cancers worldwide and it involves various biomolecular and cellular levels. CRC has possibly happened due to aging, urbanization, and diet. Different foods have varying effects on the gastrointestinal cells, that's why additional research is necessary to create effective medical interventions. This review aimed to evaluate the correlation between dietary and nutritional status on the outcome of CRC patients. Study results showed that a healthy diet such as fruit and vegetables is the best diet for improving colorectal cancer outcomes. Moreover, nutritional status affected CRC patients' outcomes, where high BMI increases the risk of having CRC. However, low BMI was associated with CRC progression and poor quality of life.

This study aimed to analyze the efficacy of stem cell-based tissue engineering for the treatment of alveolar cleft (AC) and cleft palate (CP) defects in animal models. Systematic review and meta-analysis. Preclinical studies on alveolar cleft repair in maxillofacial practice. Electronic search was performed using PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane databases. Pre-clinical studies, where stem cell-based tissue engineering was used in the reconstruction of AC and CP in animal models were included. Quality of the selected articles was evaluated using SYRCLE (SYstematic Review Centre for Laboratory animal Experimentation). Review of alveolar cleft bone augmentation interventions in preclinical models. Outcome parameters registered were new bone formation (NBF) and/or bone mineral density (BMD). Thirteen large and twelve small animal studies on AC (21) and CP (4) reconstructions were included. Studies had an unclear-to-high risk of bias. Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells were the most widely used cell source. Meta-analyses for AC indicated non-significant benefits in favor of: (1) scaffold + cells over scaffold-only (NBF P = .13); and (2) scaffold + cells over empty control (NBF P = .66; BMD P = .31). Interestingly, dog studies using regenerative grafts showed similar to superior bone formation compared to autografts. Meta analysis for the CP group was not possible. AC and CP reconstructions are enhanced by addition of osteogenic cells to biomaterials. Directions and estimates of treatment effect are useful to predict therapeutic efficacy and guide future clinical trials of bone tissue engineering.
