Dr. Kevin Tansey received his BSc (Hons.) degree in Physical Geography from the University of Sheffield (UK) in 1995, and his Ph.D. degree in Remote Sensing and Physical Geography from the University of Leicester (UK) in 1999. He has held research positions at Swansea University (UK); Friedrich-Schiller University (DE); and the Joint Research Centre, European Commission (IT). He is currently a Professor of Remote Sensing in the School of Geography, Geology and the Environment, University of Leicester. His research interests include the analysis and investigation of Earth Observation data (particularly interested in characterizing vegetation on the Earth's surface and identifying the spatial temporal and magnitude of disturbance, specifically wildfires. He is also interested in remote sensing of agriculture and energy systems.
