Background: Compared to the great volume of studies focusing on children and adolescents without intellectual disability, research regarding body mass index among young populations (13–17 years old) with intellectual disability is scarce, mostly when we refer to the comparisons between various degrees of intellectual disability and gender. Methods: The purpose of this study was to assess a series of morphofunctional parameters among children with and without intellectual disability to characterise the morphofunctional normality and its perturbations. Within the study, we included 101 subjects from several educational institutions, distributed on five groups, by their gender and degree of intellectual disability. Results: The average values of body mass index exceed the values recommended by the WHO among all the five groups (boys and girls with and without intellectual disabilities) prone to obesity. Upon analysing the values of BMI by gender and type of intellectual disability, we note that the prevalence of obesity among boys is 28.07% (BMI > 24), while 19.29% are overweight (BMI ranging between 21.5 and 24). Conclusions: The prevalence of excess weight and obesity among persons with intellectual disabilities was similar among the male and female subjects. It shows an increasing trend by age.

Compared to the tremendous volume of studies focusing on children and teenagers without disabilities, research regarding weight and body composition among young populations with an intellectual disability is relatively rare. Their number further decreases when we refer to specific age groups with intellectual deficits, such as children and adolescents younger than 18. In addition, studies are even scarcer when we wish to compare groups of subjects with different degrees of intellectual disability by gender. This study has a constative nature. The research sample comprises 212 subjects—girls and boys with an average age of 17.7 ± 0.2, divided into six groups by gender and type of intellectual disability. The parameters considered within the study include anthropometrical data and body composition determined using a professional device (Tanita MC 580 S). The findings of this study highlight the impact of intellectual disability on body composition in this age category. We hope it will help develop efficient strategies, recommendations, and intervention plans to ensure active participation in physical activities and categorisation within the optimal parameters of body composition indicators.

The present study wishes to highlight the effects of some physical training means within the preparatory phase on specific endurance-speed combined motor ability in lower limbs, in Qwan Ki Do martial art. We started from the hypothesis that using an efficient planning and adequate means it is possible to improve the combined motor ability in lower limbs, with positive effects on athletes’ efficiency. The experiment was performed over 5 weeks. In the study were included 11 male (group 1) and 8 female (group 2) elite athletes from the Romanian Qwan Ki Do national team. The team was in the preparatory phase for participating in European Championships. The means used for the experiment included long runs with constant tempo, Fartlek runs, intermittent long, medium, and short runs and also general and specific force–endurance and endurance–speed circuits. The results reveal a general significant progress in tests in both groups, suggesting that an adequate programme could conduct to the improvement of specific endurance-speed combination in lower limbs, which may represent an important support in athletes’ physical training.

Introduction: Bullying is a widespread phenomenon among school populations, including in Romania. Objective: We aimed to determine the prevalence of bullying among primary school students, with a focus on the distribution of roles (victim, aggressor, victim-aggressor, uninvolved) and possible gender differences. Material and Methods: The study employed a cross-sectional design. The research sample consisted of 352 fourth-grade students from 7 schools. Data were collected by one of the researchers during physical education classes, using the Adolescent Peer Relations Instrument Bully/Target. The Adolescent Peer Relations Instrument Bully/Target is composed of 36 items that assess the two dimensions of bullying (perpetration and victimization) through a 6-point Likert scale, where 1 = never, 2 = sometimes, 3 = once or twice a month, 4 = once a week, 5 = several times a week, and 6 = daily. Statistical analyses were performed using IBM SPSS Statistics 20. Results: The findings showed that 48.3% of students were not involved in bullying, 28.7% were victims, 6.5% were aggressors, and 16.5% were victim-aggressors. The prevalence of bullying by gender was comparable. Conclusions: The study highlighted the magnitude of bullying from primary school age, as well as the need for early prevention programs. Interventions should adopt an integrative perspective, addressing all roles involved in the bullying cycle.

This study aims to assess several morphofunctional parameters in female teenagers with and without intellectual disability to characterise normality and its disturbances. More precisely, the purpose was to examine the factors contributing to the differences in body composition elements between groups, such as the physical activity level. To evaluate these parameters, we used bioelectrical impedance analysis technology (BIA), most commonly used in studies concerning body composition because it is non-invasive, quick, with high data fidelity; it can be easily moved to various locations and applied straightforwardly among populations with diverse types of intellectual disability. Our research sample comprised 212 subjects (boys and girls) aged 17.1±0.6, divided into six groups by gender and type of intellectual disability. The study found influences of physical activity level on body composition components. In addition, we report a highly significant relationship for p<0.05, body mass index and the independent variable (No. of min./week) in some groups.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the sprint speed of junior female rugby 7`s players over different distances, both with and without the ball. We hypothesize that there are statistically significant differences between the results obtained in speed tests with the ball and without it. Also, we assume that there are differences between the sprint speed of the players depending on their position. In this sense, we evaluated 22 junior female rugby 7`s players, with an average age of 15,40 ± 1,33 years (165,50 ± 5,69 cm, 63,07 ± 9,94 kg, 18,44 ± 6,31 kg fat mass, 42,34 ± 4,48 kg muscle mass, 25,26 ± 2,67 kg skeletal muscle mass), all participants in the Romanian National Women's Rugby Sevens Championship. The sprint speed was measured using the Witty Sem automated timing system, with sensor gates placed at 10, 20, and 40 meters. Each player covered the 40-meter distance four times, twice with the ball and twice without it, recording the best times achieved. The results of the statistical analysis highlight significant differences in sprint speed with and without the ball (p<0.05), as well as between the 0-20 m and 20-40 m distances, both with and without the ball (p=0.000). The results confirm the fact that there are statistically significant differences between forwards and backs in terms of the sprint speed of the athletes (p<0,05).
