Prof. Janusz Blasiak received an M.Sc. in 1979 from the University of Lodz, Lodz, Poland, a PhD in 1989 from the Military Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Warsaw, Poland, and a Dr. hab. in 1996 from the University of Lodz, Lodz, Poland. He was a postdoctoral fellow in the Center of Cellular Biology, University of Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal (1992) and the Department of Chemistry at Lousiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA, USA (1992-1993). From 1996 to 2000, he was an assistant professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics, University of Lodz, Lodz, Poland; from 2000 to 2002, he was an associate professor at the University of Lodz, Lodz, Poland; and from 2002 to 2023, he was a professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics, University of Lodz, Lodz, Poland. From 2023 to the present, he has been a professor at the Faculty of medicine, Mazovian Acadamy in Plock, Plock, Poland. His scientific interests include the structure and function of nucleic acids; DNA damage and repair; molecular aspects of cancer transformation; aging; oxidative stress; autophagy; age-related macular degeneration; migraine; and epilepsy.
