He obtained his bachelor’s Science Degree and Diploma both in Physical Science in 1984 and 1986 respectively, and his Ph.D. in Computer Science in 1989 all from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Bellaterra (Barcelona), Spain.  From 1989 to 2007 he was an associate professor. Since 2007 he has been a full professor in the Computer Science Department (until 2003) and the Microelectronics and Electronics Department (from 2003) both in the same University. From 1989 until 2021, he has been associated with the Microelectronics National Center, IMB-CNM (CSIC), Spain. He was the Microelectronics and Electronics System Department Director from 2008 until 2016 and Director of the Spatial Studies and Research Center (CERES) from 2006 until 2016 both at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Deputy Director at the Catalan Space Studies Institute (IEEC-CERCA), Barcelona, Spain from 2006 until 2016. He has spent more than three decades as lead researcher of national and international projects, initially in the IC design and testing and more recently on design methodologies for the Hw/Sw platforms development for the integration of sensors and embedded systems for industrial, aerospace, veterinary and IoT in general. He has participated in about 60 national and international projects and contracts. He has authored over 150 research articles in international conferences and reference journals. He is also co-founder of Alternative Energy Innovations SL (AEInnova).
