Tsuyoshi Ogata is the director of the Itako Public Health Center of the Ibaraki Prefectural Government in Japan. He is responsible for infection control interventions such as contact tracing, patient isolation, and contact quarantine in jurisdiction.
He graduated from the University of Tokyo School of Medicine in 1981, became qualified to become a doctor, and has been working as medical officer. He earned a PhD at the Jichi Medical University in 2009 for the contribution of reporting the first H5N2 avian influenza infection in a human.
He has been a member of the Infection Control Study Team on the Community Health General Promoting Project since 2008 (chief during 2014-2016), which is subsidized by the Government of Japan and run by the Japan Public Health Association. He is also a visiting lecturer at Jichi Medical University, University of Tsukuba, and Dokkyo Medical University, as well as a councilor with the Japanese Society of Public Health and a member of infection control committee. He is also a member of the disaster infection control committee of the Japanese Society of Infection Prevention Control and a councilor with the Japan China Medical Association.
His interests are in public health crisis management and the epidemiology and control of community-acquired infectious diseases.
