After coal mining enters the deep, the mining environment changes dramatically, and engineering disasters become increasingly prominent, which are mostly related to rock instability and failure. As traditional support is difficult to meet production needs, it is necessary to improve the support system. Based on the engineering background of the Pinggang mining roadway, this work studies the migration law of overlying strata in deep goaf by theoretical analysis and numerical simulation. The results show that the vertical stress and plastic failure range of the surrounding rock in front of the working face increase with the advance distance and when the working face advances to the first square, reaching the maximum. A stope spatial model considering the influence of horizontal stress is established. Combined with the theory of key strata, the stress transfer characteristics of overlying strata are analyzed. It can be seen that 0~30 m in front of the coal wall of the working face is the influence range of advanced abutment pressure, and the dynamic mining pressure in this range has a great influence. The inclined direction of the working face, 0~20 m away from the coal wall of the roadway, is the influence range of the solid coal abutment pressure. On this basis, the “migration- transfer- control” technical system of surrounding rock in deep stope face is put forward, i.e., the stress transfer of surrounding rock is caused by overlying rock migration, and the large deformation of surrounding rock is controlled by supporting means. Based on the original support scheme of the roadway, three reinforcement schemes are designed for the roof, the sidewalls, and both the roof and sides. The deformation control effect of the reinforcement scheme is far greater than that of the single factor, and the field monitoring effect is good. The research results aim to provide theoretical and technical support for the deformation control of mining roadways in the deep mining process.

In order to improve the impermeability of ordinary “cement–water glass” double-liquid grouting material, this study prepares a composite grouting material with sodium bentonite, cement, and water glass as the main materials, water-reducing agent, and early strength agent as activators. In this study, orthogonal tests were conducted using an L16(45) orthogonal table and the test results were analyzed using regression analysis. Using bentonite instead of partial cement, the experimental factors of the bentonite ratio, glass slurry ratio, water-reducing agent admixture, and early strength agent admixture were used to study the laws of single-factor and two-factor interactions on the initial apparent viscosity, setting time, and compressive strength of composite grouting materials. After obtaining the optimal ratio of composite grouting materials, the mechanism of formation of material strength and seepage resistance properties was revealed. The results show that the mass ratio of bentonite to cement and the mass ratio of water glass to slurry have a large effect on the material properties, and there is an interactive effect of several factors at the same time. The optimal ratio of the material is 28.42% water, 36.58% cement, 6.20% bentonite, 0.04% water-reducing agent, 0.9% early strength agent, and 27.85% water glass. The microstructural analysis shows that the denseness of the stone body structure is enhanced, and thus the strength and impermeability of the material are improved. This composite grouting material improves injectability and seepage resistance and is more suitable for underpinning grouting of weakly cemented soft rocks, but the ratio optimization method and model used in this study can be applied to other materials.

To maintain the stability of soft rock tunnels, the research team proposed a support scheme involving “floor grouting + floor anchors + sealing material”. This scheme incorporates a new sealing material with excellent mechanical properties, airtightness, and cost-effectiveness. To develop the sealing material, a series of proportioning tests and optimization designs were conducted to investigate how various experimental factors influence material performance. Based on these experiments, a regression prediction model was established to reveal the characteristics of factor interactions and determine the optimal mix ratio. Practical engineering validation confirmed that this support scheme effectively controls floor heave in soft rock tunnels.

To address the issue of rockburst in deep return airways caused by thick, hard sandstone roofs in the Hulusu Coal Mine, this study proposes a deep borehole pressure relief technique based on hydraulic fracturing. The goal is to proactively weaken the hard roof structure and effectively mitigate rockburst hazards. The research integrates numerical modeling, theoretical analytics, and field application to systematically delve into the unstable mechanism of deep hard rock and determine the crack propagation patterns and optimal borehole parameters. Engineering validation was carried out at the 21,103 mining face. Results indicate that when the borehole inclination is 45°, the spacing is 15 m, the diameter is 65 mm, the borehole depth is 24 m over the coal pillar (CP) and 30 m on the operating face, the pressure relief effect is optimal. This configuration effectively forms a pressure relief zone in the roof, significantly reduces surrounding rock stress concentration, and enhances structural stability. Field monitoring shows that the roof energy is released stably through crack propagation, effectively reducing the risk of rockburst. The proposed technique provides theoretical and engineering support for rockburst prevention in deep hard rock mining conditions.
