Prof. Elzbieta Janda obtained PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Vienna (Austria) in 2002, after four years of research experience in the Institute of Molecular Pathology, Vienna Biocenter. Between 2002 and 2008 she worked as a postdoctoral fellow in Experimental and Clinical Medicine Department, Magna Graecia University (UMG, Catanzaro, Italy) and in 2009 she obtained a tenure position in the Department of Health Sciences at the same university (UMG, Catanzaro, Italy). In 2021 she became Associate Professor in Pharmacology. She is the Topic Editor in Antioxidants, MDPI, the Guest Editor of the Special Issue "Modulation of Autophagy by Dietary Polyphenols: Mechanisms and Health Benefits" in MDPI and the Associate Editor in Frontiers Endocrinology (Molecular and Structural Section). Her research interests mainly focus on the cross-talk between autophagy and toxicity pathways, mechanisms of action and health benefits of natural polyphenols, quinone oxidoreductases, hepatic steatosis and neurodegenerative diseases. Her current scientific output includes 37 publications, corresponding to more than 2400 citations (h-index 23) (Scopus, 24 June 2024).
