I am Valeria Cafaro, researcher at CNR–IBE within the Agritech PNRR project. I hold a Ph.D. in Agricultural, Food and Environmental Science (Doctor Europaeus) from the University of Catania, where I focused on genotype selection and agronomic optimization of Ricinus communis L. in Mediterranean environments. My research explores plant responses to abiotic stresses, sustainable cropping systems, and climate adaptation. During my Ph.D., I carried out research abroad at Wageningen University (NL), CRES (GR), and UPV (ES). I have experience in laboratory techniques such as DNA extraction, PCR, HRM, and physiological trait analysis. I serve as peer reviewer for Oilseeds and Fats, Crops and Lipids and Arid Land Research and Management. I collaborate in teaching activities in crop management and agroecosystem sustainability. I am author of several peer-reviewed publications and conference contributions in the field of agronomy, plant physiology, and biomass crops. My academic background also includes a MSc in Agricultural Biotechnology and a BSc in Agricultural Science. I am a licensed Agronomist and Biologist. I’m passionate about research that supports resilient and sustainable agriculture through innovation, interdisciplinary approaches, and international collaboration.
