The article studies the effect of trans-polynorbornene, general and special-purpose rubbers and fillers on the vulcanization characteristics of a rubber mixture, physical, mechanical, operational and dynamic properties of vulcanizates based on butadiene methylstyrene caoutchouc. The investigated model rubber mixture included SKMS-30ARK rubber, sulfur, 2,2'-dibenzthiazole disulfide, guanide F, zinc white, stearic acid, phenyl-2-naphthalamine, N-isopropyl-N'-phenyl-paraphenylenediamine, carbon blacks of grades P 514 and N 220, shungite powder and other ingredients. The rubber mixture was produced on laboratory rolls LB 320 160/160. The first (basic) version of the rubber mixture contained industrial oil I-12A as a softener. The second version of the mixture contained a modifying additive based on trans-polynorbornene and industrial oil I-12A. The third, fourth and fifth versions were prepared on the basis of a combination of rubbers SKM-S30ARK, SKN-4065 and BK-1675, including a modifying additive, as well as polyisobutylene P-118 and sevilen 11808-340. The vulcanization characteristics of the rubber mixture were studied on an MDR 3000 Basic rheometer at 150 degrees C for 30 min. To determine the physical and mechanical properties of rubber, standard samples of all variants of the rubber mixture were vulcanized at a temperature of 143 degrees C for 30 min in a vulcanization press of the P-V-100-3RT-2-PCD type. Studies of the physical, mechanical, operational and dynamic properties of rubber were carried out in accordance with the existing standards for the rubber industry. It is shown that vulcanizates containing a modifying additive have lower values of conventional tensile strength, hardness and tear resistance compared to vulcanizate of the base version of the rubber mixture and are characterized by increased dynamic and performance properties. Rubber containing a combination of butadiene-nitrile, butadiene-methylstyrene caoutchoucs and butyl caoutchouc, 10.0 mass parts sevilen 11808-340, 20.0 mass parts of trans-polynorbornene composed of in the modifying additive and 55.0 mass parts of carbon black P 324, possesses improved physical, mechanical and dynamic properties, as well as high resistance in sea water.

The article studies the effect of polynorbornene (PNB) in the composition of PNB with Norman 747 LV plasticizer (RC) on the curing characteristics of the rubber compound and the physico-mechanical, dynamic, dielectric properties and the thermal behavior of vulcanizates based on a combination of isoprene, α-methylstyrene-butadiene, and nitrile-butadiene rubbers. It is shown that vulcanizates containing PNB in the composition of the RC had lower conditional tensile strength, hardness, and tear resistance compared to the vulcanizate of the base version of the rubber compound. Studies of dynamic mechanical analysis indicate that an increase in the content of RC, and hence PNB, in the rubber compound contributes to an increase in the mechanical loss factor (tanδ) and a decrease in the storage modulus of vulcanizates. It was found that vulcanized rubber, containing 24.0 parts per hundred of rubber (phr) (8.98 wt. %) PNB as part of the RC, is characterized by stable physico-mechanical, improved vibration-absorbing properties, as well as increased dielectric parameters. This rubber compound can be used as a base for rail fasteners for railroad tracks.

A rubber mixture based on a combination of all-purpose caoutchoucs has been developed, which exhibits enhanced rheometric, physical, mechanical, and operational properties. We have established the possibility of the use of trans-polynorbornene to enhance the dynamic performance of rubber, which makes it possible to recommend it for the manufacturing of rail fastener pads with high sound- and vibration-absorbing properties.

The article studies the influence of chlorosulfonated polyethylene CSM 40 as a compatibilizer on the curing characteristics of the rubber compound, dynamic mechanical analysis, morphology, physico-mechanical and performance properties of vulcanized rubber based on a compound of ethylene propylene diene monomer EPDM S 501A and nitrile butadiene NBR 2645 rubbers. DMA studies indicate that the temperature dependence of tanδ for vulcanizates with and without a compatibilizer based on EPDM S 501A/NBR 2645 at a ratio of 75/25 parts per hundred parts of rubber (phr) has a bimodal character, which indicates the incompatibility of the rubber phases. The temperature dependence for EPDM S 501A/NBR 2645 vulcanizates (25/75 phr) with and without a compatibilizer has a monomodal form, which characterizes the improved compatibility of the rubber phases. SEM showed that a clearly defined microporous structure is observed on a cleavage of vulcanizate sample EPDM/NBR (25/75 phr) without a compatibilizer; with the addition of CSM 40, this feature is retained, but becomes less pronounced. It is shown that vulcanizates containing the compatibilizer CSM 40 are characterized by increased strength properties and hardness compared to vulcanized rubber without a compatibilizer. It was established that the vulcanized rubber based on EPDM S 501A/NBR 2645/CSM 40 (25/75/5 phr) is characterized by the smallest changes in the elastic-strength properties and hardness of vulcanizates after a day of thermo-oxidative aging in air and their weight after exposure to industrial oil I-20A and standard petroleum fluid SZhR-1 at room temperature among vulcanizates based on EPDM S 501A and NBR 2645. The vulcanizate of the rubber compound, including a compound of EPDM/NBR (25/75 phr) with a compatibilizer CSM 40 in an amount of 5 phr (2.88 wt.%), is characterized by stable physico-mechanical properties and improved performance properties. This rubber compound can be used for the manufacture of rubber products operating under the influence of oils and hydrocarbon environments.
