Radu Claudiu Fierascu has a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering and is currently a Senior Researcher (1st degree) at the National Institute for Research and Development in Chemistry and Petrochemistry–ICECHIM Bucharest, as well as serving as the Technical Director of the institute. His main research interests include the development of new organic and inorganic materials with potential applications in the field of cultural heritage, as well as archaeometry studies. He coordinated (as project manager or partner responsible) several research projects on this topic (over 500,000 EUR). His habilitation thesis (defended in 2019) included several examples regarding the development of new nanomaterials with potential applications in the field of cultural heritage conservation. He is a special editor of several special issues, a member of the Editorial Board of national journals, as well as a reviewer for multiple prestigious journals.
