Recent energy research focuses on the efficiency enhancement of supercapacitor devices for multipurpose applications. Several materials have been used as electrode materials to achieve the maximum specific capacitance. The present review article concludes with three different types of materials recently used to enhance the efficiency of supercapacitors. The first type involves carbon-based materials for storage and supercapacitor applications. The carbon materials could be obtained naturally and synthesized manually based on need. The additional advantage of carbon material is these materials can be obtained from natural sources. The second type discusses the recent advances in metal oxide materials for high-performance supercapacitors. The metal oxide materials are involved in different types of attachment through the bi-tri metallic bonding, which enhances the specific capacitance. The third type involves recently advanced materials for high energy and power density application. The power and energy density of the materials is enhanced by the surface modification of the materials. In recent days, the MXene and nanocomposite materials seem to be an appropriate material to increase the power and energy density of the device. The modification and surface treatment of respective materials could enhance the specific capacitance of the material.

Metal-ion capacitors (MICs) have emerged as advanced hybrid energy storage devices that combine the high energy density of batteries with the superior power density and long cycle life of supercapacitors. By leveraging a unique configuration of faradaic and non-faradaic energy storage mechanisms, MICs offer a balanced performance that meets the diverse requirements of modern applications, including renewable energy systems, electric vehicles, and portable electronics. MICs employ diverse ions such as lithium, sodium, and potassium, which provide flexibility in material selection, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. For instance, lithium-ion capacitors (LICs) excel in compact and high-performance applications, while sodium-ion (NICs) and potassium-ion capacitors (KICs) provide sustainable and affordable solutions for large-scale energy storage. This review highlights the advancements in electrode materials, including carbon-based materials, transition metal oxides, and emerging candidates like MXenes and metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), which enhance MIC performance. The role of electrolytes, ranging from organic and aqueous to hybrid and solid-state systems, is also examined, emphasizing their influence on energy density, safety, and operating voltage. Additionally, the article discusses the environmental and economic benefits of MICs, including the use of earth-abundant materials and bio-derived carbons, which align with global sustainability goals. The review concludes with an analysis of practical applications, commercialization challenges, and future research directions, including AI-driven material discovery and integration into decentralized energy systems. As versatile and transformative energy storage devices, MICs are poised to play a critical role in advancing sustainable and efficient energy solutions for the future.

The results of positron lifetime and Doppler broadened line-shape parameter measurements as a function of temperature, across Tc, in the Tl-Ba-Ca-Cu-O superconductors are presented. The bulk lifetime in the normal state is found to decrease with the increase in the number of CuO2 layers. Different temperature dependencies of the annihilation parameters are observed in the various Tl systems containing different numbers of CuO2 layers. In the Tl2 Ba2 Ca2 Cu3 O10 system, an increase in lifetime is observed below Tc, whereas in Tl2 Ba2 CaCu2 O8, a decrease in lifetime is seen below Tc. In the Tl2 Ba2 CuO6 system, the lifetime is observed to be temperature independent. The different temperature variations of positron annihilation parameters are discussed in the light of the positron density distribution, obtained with use of the results of the self-consistent orthogonalized linear combination of atomic orbitals band-structure calculations. It is argued that the different temperature dependencies of the annihilation parameters is related to the positron density distribution within the unit cell and arise due to local charge transfer in the vicinity of the CuO2 layer in the superconducting state.

The present review article discusses the elementary concepts of the sensor mechanism and various types of materials used for sensor applications. The electrospinning method is the most comfortable method to prepare the device-like structure by means of forming from the fiber structure. Though there are various materials available for sensors, the important factor is to incorporate the functional group on the surface of the materials. The post-modification sanction enhances the efficiency of the sensor materials. This article also describes the various types of materials applied to chemical and biosensor applications. The chemical sensor parts include acetone, ethanol, ammonia, and CO2, H2O2, and NO2 molecules; meanwhile, the biosensor takes on glucose, uric acid, and cholesterol molecules. The above materials have to be sensed for a healthier lifestyle for humans and other living organisms. The prescribed review articles give a detailed report on the Electrospun materials for sensor applications.

Constructing robust electrocatalysts and shedding light on the processes of surface reconstruction is crucial for sustained hydrogen production and a deeper understanding of catalytic behavior. Here, a novel ZIF‐67‐derived lanthanum‐ and phosphorus‐co‐doped Co 3 O 4 catalyst (La, P‐Co 3 O 4 ) has been reported. X‐ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) confirms that the La and P co‐doping reduces the coordination number (CN), improves oxygen vacancies (O v ), and leads to lattice distortion. Soft XAS confirms that Co 2+ exists predominantly in La, P‐Co 3 O 4 than in Co 3 O 4 . Investigation of surface reconstruction with in situ Raman spectroscopy , revealing that La, P‐Co 3 O 4 reconstructs earlier into catalytically active γ‐CoOOH during the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) process. As a result, La, P‐Co 3 O 4 exhibits commendable electrocatalytic performance with minimal overpotentials of 351 mV for the OER, 222 mV for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), and 1.46 V for the urea oxidation reaction (UOR) to achieve a current density of 50 mA cm −2 . A two‐electrode electrolyzer using La, P‐Co 3 O 4 as anode and cathode, achieving 19.4% energy savings during urea electrolysis compared to overall water electrolysis while maintaining stability for 72 h. This study provides a new perspective for understanding the mechanism and co‐doping impact on the physicochemical properties of spinel Co 3 O 4 for sustainable energy conversion.
