Pedro Moreira obtained his PhD in Human Nutrition in 2001, with a focus on eating behavior and weight control, and his preferred areas of research and publication include the relationship between dietary intake and obesity–asthma, before and after birth, and the control of the hydric and sodium–potassium balance in the life cycle. More recently, he has continued to collaborate with several projects in the areas of maternal–child nutrition and global nutrition (including the prevention of NCDs and HIV maternal–child transmission in pregnant women who are HIV+ in low- and middle-income countries, such as Mozambique (Maputo and Nampula) and São Tomé e Principe, and in cities located in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, including Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, in collaboration with WHO Europe. He is currently a full-time professor of Human Nutrition at FCNAUP, an integrated researcher at Instituto de Saúde Pública da Universidade do Porto (ISPUP), and a collaborator at the Centro de Atividade Física e Saúde e Lazer (CIAFEL). He was a founding member of the Portuguese Society of Nutrition and Food Sciences, and he was the director of FCNAUP between 2014 and 2018. He is currently the director of the Master's course in Pediatric Nutrition and the president of the Pedagogical Council at FCNAUP.
