The emergence of antibiotic resistance, caused by the improper use of antibiotics, is a significant challenge in combating infectious diseases, leading to millions of annual fatalities. The occurrence of antimicrobial side effects catalyzes the investigation of novel antimicrobial compounds and sources of drugs. Consequently, the research on biological activity that is conducted on plants, plant extracts, and compounds that are produced from plant components is of utmost significance. In this study, CtAC/MNPs were obtained by the reaction of activated carbon (AC) obtained from the fruits of the Celtis tournefortii (Ct) plant and magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs), and a CtAC/MNPs-Ag nanocomposite was synthesized by the reduction in silver ions added to the reaction. The synthesized CtAC/MNPs and CtAC/MNPs-Ag nanocomposites were analyzed spectroscopically (FTIR, XRD), microscopically (SEM, EDX), optically (DLS), electrochemically (zeta potential) and magnetically (VSM). The antibacterial activities of CtAC/MNPs and CtAC/MNPs-Ag nanocomposites against S. aureus and E. coli were investigated by microdilution method using minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) and disk diffusion methods. Antioxidant activity study, including total phenolic content and DPPH and cuprac assays, revealed the remarkable effect of the CtAC/MNPs-Ag nanocomposite. This study has the advantages of obtaining CtAC/MNPs and CtAC/MNPs-Ag nanocomposites in a short time without requiring energy, and most importantly, the reaction takes place without using any toxic substances. In addition, according to the data obtained in the study, the CtAC/MNPs-Ag nanocomposite is thought to shed light on biomedical research.

The removal efficiencies of phenol, 2-chlorophenol (2-CPh), and 4-chlorophenol (4-CPh) from aqueous solution with magnetic chitosan nanoparticles were investigated in this work. Chitosan-coated magnetite nanoparticles were successfully synthesized, characterizated, and applied as an effective magnetic biosorbent for the removal of phenol, 2-CPh, and 4-CPh from aqueous solutions. The characterization of synthesized magnetic chitosan nanoparticles was performed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, dynamic light scattering, vibrating sample magnetometry analyses, and thermogravimetric analysis. Adsorption characteristics of phenolic compounds from aqueous solution on to magnetic chitosan have been studied and results indicated that the adsorption capacities were affected by initial pH values, initial concentration of adsorbates, dosage of adsorbent, and contact time. The adsorption of adsorbates followed with the pseudo-second-order reaction and equilibrium experiments were well fitted with the Freundlich isotherm model. Furthermore, it was found that the magnetic biosorbent can be regenerated and reused for five repeated cycles for the removal of phenol, 2-CPh, and 4-CPh and avoided secondary pollution of biosorbent to water.

The energy storage performance of supercapacitors—defined by specific capacitance, energy density, and power density—is strongly influenced by the structural and electrochemical properties of electrode materials. While cathode development has advanced significantly, research on efficient and sustainable anode materials remains limited, hindering further improvements in energy density. This study presents a low‐cost, sustainable anode material derived from Abelmoschus esculentus (AE) seed biomass. Activated carbon (AE‐AC) was prepared via chemical activation and subsequently coated with magnetic Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles synthesised through co‐precipitation to form an AE‐AC‐doped Fe 3 O 4 nanocomposite. The materials were characterised using XRD, SEM–EDX, BET surface area analysis, and other techniques. Electrochemical performance was evaluated using cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic charge/discharge (GCD), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). At a scan rate of 2.5 mV/s, both electrodes exhibited peak capacitance. GCD analysis showed specific capacitances of 119.97 F/g for AE‐AC and 205.86 F/g for AE‐AC‐doped Fe 3 O 4 at 0.05 A/g. EIS results confirmed enhanced performance of the nanocomposite in acidic medium. These findings highlight the potential of AE‐based activated carbon composites as environmentally friendly and efficient anode materials for next‐generation supercapacitors.

The increasing prevalence of antimicrobial resistance alongside the pharmacological limitations and adverse effects associated with conventional antibiotics necessitates the development of novel and efficacious antimicrobial agents. In this study, magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (MIONPs) were synthesized via a chemical co-precipitation method. Activated carbon (AC) derived from Hibiscus esculentus (HE) fruit was coated onto the nanoparticle surfaces to fabricate MIONPs/HEAC nanocomposites. To augment their antimicrobial properties, silver ions were chemically reduced and deposited onto the MIONPs/HEAC surface, yielding MIONPs/HEAC@Ag nanocomposites. Comprehensive characterization of the synthesized nanocomposites was performed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), and zeta potential analysis. DLS measurements indicated average particle sizes of approximately 122 nm and 164 nm for MIONPs/HEAC and MIONPs/HEAC@Ag, respectively. Saturation magnetization values were determined to be 73.6 emu/g for MIONPs and 65.5 emu/g for MIONPs/HEAC. Antibacterial assays demonstrated that MIONPs/HEAC@Ag exhibited significant inhibitory effects against Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, with inhibition zone diameters of 11.50 mm and 13.00 mm, respectively. In contrast, uncoated MIONPs/HEAC showed negligible antibacterial activity against both bacterial strains. These findings indicate that MIONPs/HEAC@Ag nanocomposites possess considerable potential as antimicrobial agents for biomedical applications, particularly in addressing infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
