In this paper, a new multidimensional Takagi–Sugeno (T-S) identification technique is proposed for multivariable nonlinear systems. In this technique, multidimensional membership functions are designed using concepts from solid mechanics. The design of membership functions is carried out in multidimensional space, defining the principal axes from the eigenvectors of the inertia matrix, and it has the characteristic of dividing the space into regions with the same inertia. These regions are analyzed to define the center of gravity for each rule. Illustrative examples of multivariable nonlinear systems, such as a thermal mixing process and a binary distillation column, are selected to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The proposed method is compared with traditional T-S identification that uses one-dimensional membership functions and shows a reduction in the relative identification error and the algorithm execution time. Additionally, the proposed method prevents rules from being positioned outside the system’s range, thereby avoiding the generation of unnecessary rules.

The digital transformation in Industry 4.0 has revolutionized quality control paradigms, integrating advanced technologies such as augmented reality, deep learning, and computer vision systems into a new era called "Quality 4.0". This study systematically reviews how these technologies are shaping new practices in continuous quality supervision and improvement, adapting to increasingly automated and connected production environments. Through a comprehensive analysis of the literature, practical applications in various industrial sectors, from manufacturing and agriculture to the production of sweets and snacks, are highlighted. Additionally, the conceptual and detailed design of a quality control system using artificial intelligence tools is presented, focusing on the inspection of dimensions, color, weight, and labeling of MDF boxes. The proposed system demonstrates an effective integration of sensors, high-definition cameras, and deep learning algorithms, validated through tests with boxes of different sizes. The results suggest that the adoption of these technologies not only improves the accuracy and efficiency of inspections but is also essential to maintaining high-quality standards in a dynamic and competitive industrial environment.

In this work, a fuzzy predictive optimal control for multivariable nonlinear systems with pure time delays is presented. Therefore, dynamic local linear state models are used at each point of the state space obtained by fuzzy Takagi‐Sugeno (T‐S) modelling. The modelling error is considered as white noise, and the state is observed using the Kalman Filter (KF). This method does not take into account possible input constraints. Therefore, it applies to systems where there are no saturation problems. In this work, a new approach in the Model Predictive Control (MPC) method is proposed by calculating the control signal increment as a function of the error between a reference state vector and the prediction at N‐steps of the state vector instead of using the traditional MPC approach which is based on calculating the error between a reference and the predicted output. The proposed method has a satisfactory tracking performance. The main feature of the proposed method is that it attains computational savings compared to other methods that have used incremental state models, which making it more appropriate for real‐time applications.

The purpose of this article is to present an IoT architecture implemented in an intelligent environment, focusing on the optimization of initial conditions and device management. A general control system was developed using an open-source platform, integrating aWi-Fi network and YAML coding to enable communication and control of the IoT architecture devices. The implementation includes actuators, sensors, and control devices that, through a graphical interface, allow the visualization of the historical record of activities and real-time measurements of connected devices. The design includes specific mechanisms and the analysis of materials through tensile tests on specimens, following the ASTM E8 standard, and deformation test simulations, in which PLA demonstrated better performance compared to materials like ABS and resin. The significance of the implemented IoT system lies in an energy saving of 58% compared to conventional structures. Additionally, the study of response times for network connections showed that using an Ethernet cable resulted in a response time of 1.21 seconds, representing a reduction of 1.65 seconds compared to the second lowest value obtained.

This study presents a structured multi-sensor predictive maintenance framework for CO2 laser cutting machines based on real-time data acquisition and supervised machine learning. The proposed architecture integrates heterogeneous sensor signals—including vibration, temperature, humidity, and acoustic measurements—through synchronized feature-level fusion to characterize machine operational states. A statistically grounded thresholding strategy, validated using two years of operational observations and controlled experimental perturbations, is employed to distinguish normal and abnormal behavior. Sensor data are processed using a Decision Tree classifier implemented in Python with Scikit-learn, enabling short-horizon probabilistic fault prediction during operational cycles. The system is deployed in a real industrial environment and validated using cross-validation and structured dataset partitioning to assess generalization performance. Results demonstrate reliable fault discrimination capability under controlled operational conditions, highlighting the effectiveness of feature-level sensor integration for early anomaly detection. The modular hardware–software architecture supports adaptability to other CNC platforms with appropriate recalibration and retraining. The proposed framework provides a low-cost, interpretable, and computationally efficient solution for real-time industrial predictive maintenance applications.
