Professor Konstantinos Triantafyllou is a graduate and Ph.D. holder from the Medical School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Athens, Greece, and a post-doctoral scientist studying the microbiome in functional bowel disorders at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, LA, CA, USA. He joined the Medical School Faculty in 2006, and since 2007, he is the Head of the Hepatogastroenterology Unit, providing care to gastroenterology and hepatology in- and out-patients and clinical consultations for patients admitted to Attikon University General Hospital. Beyond clinics, teaching (pre-, post-graduate medical students, Gastroenterology trainees) and research comprise his academic activities. He has supervised 10 medical Ph.D. thesis, so far and the yield of his scientific work includes, among others, more than 250 peer-reviewed manuscripts with more than 7500 citations (H-index = 45) and more than 30 chapters in Medical Textbooks. He is the associate editor of 2 medical journals, member of the editorial board of 3 more and reviewer for more than 60 international medical journals. He is co-holder of an USA patent on the diagnosis and management of fatty liver disease and he collaborates with European (EU grants included), Australian and American research teams. He is the Chair of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) Guidelines Committee for 2021–2025, ESGE Governing Board member since 2016 and past President (2020) of the Hellenic Society of Gastroenterology.
