Dr. Marta d'Amora is a biologist with extensive expertise spanning over 13 years in the use of zebrafish as a vertebrate model for toxicology and neuroscience investigations. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology and a Ph.D. in Neurochemistry and Neurobiology. Her research focuses on the developmental use of zebrafish to assess the effects, transport, and biodistribution of various nanomaterials and drugs for both biomedical and industrial applications. Since 2024, she has been performing electrophysiological recordings in zebrafish embryos and larvae for epilepsy research within the framework of the TRANSCENDE project (TRANslational Study of Central Noradrenergic System Degeneration in Infantile Epilepsy). She has published more than 40 papers in peer-review impacted journals, with an H-index of 23. She has been involved in several research projects, including ZEBRAFISH (Project 144/16; Fondazione Pisana), RECODE (European Union’s Horizon 2020 – Grant Agreement 768583), and I-GENE projects (European Union’s Horizon 2020 – Grant Agreement 862714).
