Medical information systems have been increasingly facilitating and improving the quality of health monitoring, disease-trend modelling and early intervention with evidence-based medical treatment by data mining and feature extraction. Such systems are part of the enterprise information system of the healthcare organisations. We proposed a new algorithm fb-kNN towards recommendation algorithms based on analysis of the patterns of diseases with patterns in human body, which was then implemented in Healthcare 4.0 for the recommendation of diagnosis and treatment. Our developed tool is a complete package solution for the Enterprise Management System (ERP) which shows improvement in healthcare, reducing chronic diseases and mortality rates.

Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) is of low-cost and energy-efficiency and will be a promising technology for the future wireless communications like sixth generation. To address the problem of conventional directional modulation (DM) that Alice only transmits single confidential bit stream (CBS) to Bob with multiple antennas in a line-of-sight channel, IRS is proposed to create friendly multipaths for DM such that two CBSs can be transmitted from Alice to Bob. This will significantly enhance the secrecy rate (SR) of DM. To maximize the SR (Max-SR), a general non-convex optimization problem is formulated with the unit-modulus constraint of IRS phase-shift matrix (PSM), and the general alternating iterative (GAI) algorithm is proposed to jointly obtain the transmit beamforming vectors (TBVs) and PSM by alternately optimizing one and fixing another. To reduce its high complexity, a low-complexity iterative algorithm for Max-SR is proposed by placing the constraint of null-space (NS) on the TBVs, called NS projection (NSP). Here, each CBS is transmitted separately in the NSs of other CBS and AN channels. Simulation results show that the SRs of the proposed GAI and NSP can approximately double that of IRS-based DM with single CBS for massive IRS in the high signal-to-noise ratio region.

The polarization millimeter wave (mmWave) massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system has been deployed in next-generation wireless communication since it can provide a high data stream and high space efficiency simultaneously. Polarization channel parameter estimation for polarized mmWave massive MIMO systems is extremely important for directional beamforming with data transmissionS. In this paper, the base station (BS) equipped with a large polarization-sensitive array is considered in massive MIMO systems. The polarization channel consists of direction-of-arrival (DOA) and polarization parameters that are estimated from the coexistence of circular and non-circular signals. Based on the unconjugated covariance matrix, the initialized polarization channel estimation is achieved by multiple signal classification (MUSIC). Then, the high-accuracy polarization channel estimation for general non-circular rate signals is performed by reconstructing the corresponding noise matrix. The high-accuracy polarization channel estimation for circular signals is obtained based on covariance matrix differencing. Moreover, the dimension of parameter search is reduced based on the partial derivative of the spectrum function with respect to the non-circular phase. The high-accuracy polarization channel estimation for the maximum non-circular rate signal is finally achieved based on the initialized parameter estimation of the polarization channel. The proposed algorithm estimates different kinds of signals separately. The effect of different kinds of signals is reduced significantly, which means that the resolution probability of different kinds of signals can be dramatically improved. Numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm, especially in small angular distances.

It is a serious problem that the performance loss is suffered by traditional Direction-of-Arrival (DOA) estimation methods in non-ideal environment, such as mutual coupling of array elements, coherent sources, colored noise and plethora targets. A data-driven robust DOA estimation framework is proposed for MIMO radar via deep neural networks (DNN), so as to overcome the problems mentioned before. The framework consists of an autoencoder, a feedforward network, a network parameters database and a series of parallel directed acyclic graph networks (DAGN). Assisted with feedforward network for target-number determination, matching parameters of networks will be loaded from database. The autoencoder acts like a noise filter, it reconstructs the noise-free covariance from the noisy signal and thus the generalization burden of the subsequent DOA estimation DAGN will be decreased. Each sub-network of the parallel DAGN consists of a convolutional neural network (CNN) and two bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) networks, from which the estimation of DOA will be obtained by regression. The simulation results show that the proposed method is superior to the traditional methods in a non-ideal environment, and can also perform well when the number of targets reaches the upper limitation of the degrees of freedom of MIMO radar.

Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) is a promising solution to build a programmable wireless environment for future communication systems, in which the reflector elements steer the incident signal in fully customizable ways by passive beamforming. In this paper, an IRS-aided secure spatial modulation (SM) is proposed, where the IRS perform passive beamforming and information transfer simultaneously by adjusting the on-off states of the reflecting elements. We formulate an optimization problem to maximize the average secrecy rate (SR) by jointly optimizing the passive beamforming at IRS and the transmit power at transmitter under the consideration that the direct pathes channels from transmitter to receivers are obstructed by obstacles. As the expression of SR is complex, we derive a newly fitting expression (NASR) for the expression of traditional approximate SR (TASR), which has simpler closed-form and more convenient for subsequent optimization. Based on the above two fitting expressions, three beamforming methods, called maximizing NASR via successive convex approximation (Max-NASR-SCA), maximizing NASR via dual ascent (Max-NASR-DA) and maximizing TASR via semi-definite relaxation (Max-TASR-SDR) are proposed to improve the SR performance. Additionally, two transmit power design (TPD) methods are proposed based on the above two approximate SR expressions, called Max-NASR-TPD and Max-TASR-TPD. Simulation results show that the proposed Max-NASR-DA and Max-NASR-SCA IRS beamformers harvest substantial SR performance gains over Max-TASR-SDR. For TPD, the proposed Max-NASR-TPD performs better than Max-TASR-TPD. Particularly, the Max-NASR-TPD has a closed-form solution.

Chronic diseases are increasingly major threats to older persons, seriously affecting their physical health and well-being. Hospitals have accumulated a wealth of health-related data, including patients’ test reports, treatment histories, and diagnostic records, to better understand patients’ health, safety, and disease progression. Extracting relevant information from this data enables physicians to provide personalized patient-treatment recommendations. While collaborative filtering techniques and classical algorithms such as naive Bayes, logistic regression, and decision trees have had notable success in health-recommendation systems, most current systems primarily inform users of their likely preferences without providing explanations. This paper proposes an approach of deep learning with a local interpretable model–agnostic explanations (LIME)-based interpretable recommendation system to solve this problem. Specifically, we apply the proposed approach to two chronic diseases common in older adults: heart disease and diabetes. After data preprocessing, we use six deep-learning algorithms to form interpretations. In the heart-disease data set, the actual model recommendation of multi-layer perceptron and gradient-boosting algorithm differs from the local model’s recommendation of LIME, which can be used as its approximate prediction. From the feature importance of these two algorithms, it can be seen that the CholCheck, GenHith, and HighBP features are the most important for predicting heart disease. In the diabetes data set, the actual model predictions of the multi-layer perceptron and logistic-regression algorithm were little different from the local model’s prediction of LIME, which can be used as its approximate recommendation. Moreover, from the feature importance of the two algorithms, it can be seen that the three features of glucose, BMI, and age were the most important for predicting heart disease. Next, LIME is used to determine the importance of each feature that affected the results of the calculated model. Subsequently, we present the contribution coefficients of these features to the final recommendation. By analyzing the impact of different patient characteristics on the recommendations, our proposed system elucidates the underlying reasons behind these recommendations and enhances patient trust. This approach has important implications for medical recommendation systems and encourages informed decision-making in healthcare.
