Prof. Dr. Shunde Yin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Waterloo. He completed his PhD studies in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Waterloo in 2008, his M.Sc. in Geotechnical Engineering at the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics in Wuhan in 2003, and his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Shijiazhuang Railway Institute. His research interests include coupled thermal, hydraulic, mechanical, and chemical phenomena, with his research group focusing on monitoring, laboratory testing, and numerical modeling of these processes, as well as in situ stress characterization, surveillance, and manipulation.
