Background and Study Aim. Taekwondo (TKD) is a combat sport emphasizing on kicking techniques and dynamic footwork. Specialized balance ability is crucial for Taekwondo practitioners. Nowadays balance could be improved with specific strength training such as blood flow restriction and plyometric training. Thus, the aim of this study was to understand the effect of blood flow restriction (BFR) and pliometric training methods on the development of dynamic balance at the martial art of Taekwondo. Material and Methods. Totally 31 TKD athletes between 15-19 ages participated voluntarily and were divided into three groups as blood flow restriction (n=11), plyometric training (n=10) and control groups (n=10). In addition to normal taekwondo training, 8 week training programs were applied to the pliometric and blood flow restriction groups, and no training program was applied to the control group. At the beginning and after the trainings, dynamic balance ability measured with Prokin Tecnobody equipment for 30 seconds slalom test. Results. The difference between pre-test and post-test values of BFR group’s dynamic balance (antero-posterior sway) was found to be statistically different (p<.05) while according to the pliometric training results, there was no statistically significant difference (p>.05). Also, there was not any difference in terms of gender (p>.05). Conclusions. Strength development is neccessary for dynamic balance improvement in athletes. Since taekwondo athletes use strength and balance ability for rapid kicking and change direction, these motor abilities are important for success. Based on the findings of this study; it is recommended that BFR method may be useful and so it can be included in training programs.

Background and Objectives: The primary purpose of the article was to examine the relationship between dark and light personality traits in university students enrolled in the Faculty of Sport Sciences. Materials and Methods: Data were collected from 518 students (208 female, 310 male) with an average age of 20.89 (±2.25). The Short Dark Triad and the Light Triad Scales were used. Harman’s single-factor analysis minimized measurement error, and various statistical methods assessed the effect of gender and age on personality traits. Results: Results indicated a positive correlation among dark personality traits, while light personality traits exhibited more complex relationships. Gender and age were found to significantly influence certain personality traits. Conclusions: This study contributes to the sports literature by exploring the role of demographic variables in personality formation.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of exergame training which can be conducted on stable floor; at school with smart board and at home with TV screen, on students’ balance improvement. 53 students with age average of 10,25±0.504 were voluntarily participated to this research. In this experimental research, pretest-posttest with control group model was used as a testing model. Participant students were divided into exergame group and control group by using random sampling method. While balance training with ‘nintendo wii’ game console was applied to exergame group three days a week during eight weeks, control group didn’t take any application. For both of the groups, pretest-posttest was evaluated through static balance measurement with ‘balance error scoring system (BESS)’ and dynamic balance with ‘techno-body measuring device’. Furthermore, development level between these two groups was observed. Pretest results comparison was conducted with unpaired t-test. In the analysis of development level between groups, for pretest-posttest values repetitive measurement, two-way anova analysis was used. In pretest measurements, It was not observed any difference between control and exargames applied groups dynamic and static balance ability (p>,05).By the way, in static and dynamic posttest measurement, It was observed significant differences between groups in favor of exergame group (p<,05). In this study, It was considered that balance training with exergame dramatically improves both static and dynamic balance abilities. As a result, It can be suggested that exergame should be used for improving the balance in children as an alternative training method both in the schools and houses.

Objective: This study explored the impact of Life Kinetic training on hand-eye coordination in taekwondo players aged 11 to 14 years (x̄=12.67± 1.01) who had achieved a red belt rank or higher. Materials and Methods: To investigate the effects of Life Kinetic training on hand-eye coordination, an experimental group of athletes (n=15) engaged in 45 minutes of these exercises twice a week for 8 weeks in addition to their regular taekwondo training. A control group (n=15) continued with only their taekwondo training. Hand-eye coordination was assessed using the Purdue Pegboard hand dexterity test before the intervention. Data analysis involved a two-factor mixed ANOVA with repeated measures. The Shapiro-Wilk test and skewness assessment were employed to verify the normality of the dependent variables. A p-value less than 0.05 indicated a statistically significant difference between the variables. Results: Based on the results of hand-eye coordination measurements, group-measurement interaction significantly impacted the outcomes (p<.05) of right-hand placement, left-hand placement, pair-hand placement, and the combination test. Conclusion: Based on these results, it was found that the results of hand-eye coordination measurements of the experimental group, in which LK exercises were applied, showed more improvement than the control group that practiced traditional taekwondo training, and it was concluded that Life Kinetic training had a significant and positive effect on hand-eye coordination.
