Millions of people around the world rely on aquaculture as a major source of food. In the recent few years, probiotics have gained considerable attention as an alternative agent to antibiotics. They have been shown to play an important role in improving aquaculture species through different mechanisms, mainly disease management, improving their growth performance, and improving water quality. Consequently, this review aimed to identify the key areas of research in the global literature about the influence of probiotics on aquaculture based on the selected keywords “aquaculture” AND “probiotics” AND “growth performance” AND “disease resistance” (APGD). The meta-data of the published literature were extracted from the Web of Science (WoS) database on 23 December 2024, and then the co-authors, countries, and keywords were analyzed and visualized using VOSviewer (v. 1.6.20). The search found a remarkable number of documents, which included 175 APGD documents. The results of the bibliometric analysis of the global literature reveal a substantial increase in the publication of APGD documents from 2019 to 2024. Asia, particularly China (32.3% of documents), has emerged as a leader of APGD publications, followed by Iran (8.67%), India (8.01%), Malaysia (7.5%), and Spain (7.5%), respectively. Keyword analysis revealed the prevalence of disease resistance (length = 1793), probiotics (1348), aquaculture (1169), and growth performance (913) as the most impactful keywords based on the WoS database. This could indicate that most of the APGD documents were focused on disease resistance and probiotics relationships. In addition, an extensive review of the recent literature showed that probiotics have demonstrated a remarkable efficacy in improving the growth performance, feed utilization efficiency, disease prevention, and water quality management in various aquaculture species under different aquaculture systems when used as feed or water additives for 30–90 days. It can be concluded that Asia is the lead continent in aquaculture probiotics research, with a significant increase in APGD documents in the last 5 years. Probiotics played a major role in improving aquatic species. This research aims to provide valuable insight into the use of probiotics in aquaculture and highlights the need for further research to fully understand their benefits and mechanisms of action.

Background: Moringa oleifera is one of the most nutrient-packed species, commonly known as the drumstick tree or miracle tree, and has garnered substantial popularity for its health benefits, phytochemical profile, and therapeutic potential. Moringa oleifera is a plant that is native to the Indian subcontinent and has been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years owing to its nutritional and therapeutic properties. Methods: The leaves, seeds, pods, roots, and flowers of this plant are enriched with a wide range of bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, vitamins, minerals, and essential amino acids. Therefore, it is considered a reservoir crop for both nutritional and medicinal applications. Result: The recent rediscovery of the plant is at the forefront of changes in nutrition, medicine, and public health. Owing to its varied clinical applications, the plant is a potential candidate for research in new drug development and functional foods. Conclusions: Potential applications of Moringa compounds in the treatment of chronic diseases include antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial (bacterial or fungal), and anticancerous effects. In this review, various phytochemical extraction techniques, therapeutic properties, and applications are discussed.

Green walnuts have been valued for their health and medicinal effects for many years. Green walnuts have several bioactive metabolites, including polyphenols, flavonoids, and tannins, that have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anticancer properties. With previous records of increased inclination towards natural or botanical sources of therapeutics, green walnuts have regained the uniqueness of therapeutic prominence globally. This comprehensive review provides a deep understanding of the use of green walnut (Juglans regia L.) around the globe and shows its potential pharmacological benefits. It explores the different therapeutic and medicinal uses of green walnuts, including their historical use in traditional medicine throughout different continents and regions, including Asia, Europe, America, Africa, and the Middle East. This review also provides the substantial studies conducted on green walnuts, which investigate the bioactive substances found in various parts of the walnut tree, including the kernel, shell, leaves, shoots, bark, and roots, indulging in their health advantages. It also diversifies the antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, cardiovascular, and antihypertensive activities of the green walnut, which clearly shows the prospective use of the walnut in nutraceutical and medicinal applications. This review continues by emphasizing the necessity for further research to focus on and attract global researchers to aim for a detailed understanding of the pharmacological implications of green walnuts and enhance their use in traditional and modern medicine.

The green walnut, which is frequently overlooked in favor of its more mature sibling, is becoming a topic of great significance because of its unique ecological role, culinary flexibility, and therapeutic richness. The investigation of the bioactive substances found in green walnuts and their possible effects on human health has therapeutic potential. Juglans regia L. is an important ecological component that affects soil health, biodiversity, and the overall ecological dynamic in habitats. Comprehending and recording these consequences are essential for environmental management and sustainable land-use strategies. Regarding cuisine, while black walnuts are frequently the main attraction, green walnuts have distinct tastes and textures that are used in a variety of dishes. Culinary innovation and the preservation of cultural food heritage depend on the understanding and exploration of these gastronomic characteristics. Omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals are abundant in green walnuts, which have a comprehensive nutritional profile. Walnuts possess a wide range of pharmacological properties, including antioxidant, antibacterial, antiviral, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and cognitive-function-enhancing properties. Consuming green walnuts as part of one’s diet helps with antioxidant defense, cardiovascular health, and general well-being. Juglans regia L., with its distinctive flavor and texture combination, is not only a delicious food but also supports sustainable nutrition practices. This review explores the nutritional and pharmacological properties of green walnuts, which can be further used for studies in various food and pharmaceutical applications.

In this investigation, the effect of different drying techniques, such as freeze-drying and cabinet drying, with two different carrier agents, such as maltodextrin (MD) and soy protein isolate (SPI), at different levels (10, 15, and 20%) on button mushrooms has been revealed. The results showed that the button mushroom powders (BMPs) formulated with SPI as a carrier agent had significantly higher powder yield, hygroscopicity, L*, a*, and b* values, whereas BMP formulated with MD had significantly higher water activity, solubility index, tapped density, bulk density, and flowability. The highest retention of bioactive compounds was reported in freeze-dried mushroom powder compared to cabinet dried powder using SPI as a carrier agent. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analysis confirmed that certain additional peaks were produced in the mushroom button powder-containing SPI (1,035–3,271 cm−1) and MD (930–3,220 cm−1). Thus, the results revealed that SPI showed promising results for formulating the BMP using the freeze-drying technique.
