This article proposes a sensorless control method based on a fractional-order terminal sliding mode observer for high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor (HSPMSM) with LCL filter. The LCL filter is used in the drive system to suppress high-frequency harmonics. First, an extended state sliding mode observer for the HSPMSM with LCL filter is proposed. A predictive correction discrete method based on Runge–Kutta is proposed for discretizing the extended sliding mode observer (SMO) to reduce the discretization error. Then, a fractional-order sliding mode surface and approaching law are proposed to increase the convergence speed and suppress the chattering present in traditional sliding mode observation. The discretization error, convergence, and chattering suppression performance of the proposed control strategy are analyzed. Compared to conventional SMO methods, the issue of sliding mode chattering is effectively addressed, enhancing the SMO control performance. Finally, experimental results comparing different methods verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.

The onboard distributed generation system with high-speed permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) faces significant current ripples issue due to the low stator inductance. The complex operating conditions of the electric vehicles lead to uncertain periodic and nonperiodic disturbances in the current loop, which deteriorates the control performance of current loop. To address this issue, this article proposes an adaptive nonlinear active disturbance rejection current controller for the distributed generation system of onboard high-speed PMSG. The improved adaptive nonlinear controller offers disturbance rejection capabilities for different forms of nonperiodic disturbances avoiding complex cascade structure. Additionally, an adaptive internal model controller is embedded within the current controller to suppress periodic disturbances. Compared with the traditional method, this method improves the tracking ability of high-frequency periodic signals and shows strong robustness against dc offsets. The proposed method reduces current distortion by approximately 8% and decreases the frequency identification convergence time by about 40%. The stability of the closed-loop system is analyzed, and the controller parameters are tuned. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed current control strategy are validated on a 60 kW gas turbine-driven PMSG generation platform.

The Forward Euler method is well known for its simplicity and ease of implementation in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) controls. However, it introduces significant errors, which becomes more severe when establishing the discrete-time model of a high-order system for a high-speed PMSM with LCL filter. Traditional discrete methods, which have smaller errors, are too complex and difficult to apply in high-speed systems. To address these issues, this paper proposes a sensorless control method for surface-mounted high-speed PMSM with LCL filter based on a predictive correction Runge-Kutta (PCRK) discrete method. High-precision extended Luenberger observer and strongly robust sliding mode observer are established to estimate motor side currents and rotor position. PCRK is proposed to reduce discretization errors and computational load. Implicit equation issues in numerical solutions are eliminated through predictive-corrective steps to implement the algorithm in digital circuits. Several simulations and experiments are conducted in three methods-the traditional Euler method, the bilinear transform method, and the proposed method. Comparisons demonstrate that the proposed method has good rotor position estimation performance and a wide pole configuration range in sensorless control of HSPMSM with LCL filter.

Surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is widely used for direct drive to provide the necessary power in the propulsion system of electric vehicles. Due to the complexity of operating conditions and strong coupling, higher demands are placed on the dynamic response of the motor drive and the ability to suppress disturbances. To enhance the performance of the propulsion system, this paper proposes an adaptive hybrid active disturbance rejection speed control strategy to simultaneously suppress uncertain non-periodic and periodic disturbances. The control strategy consists of two parts: a weighted hybrid active disturbance rejection control (HADRC) and a feedback adaptive resonant control (FARC). The HADRC is used to suppress non-periodic disturbances, offering both fast response capability and strong steady-state performance. FARC provides rapid identification and strong robustness against periodic disturbances, while also exhibiting strong anti-interference ability for measurement noise. Furthermore, the closed-loop stability of the controlled system is analyzed, and parameter tuning is performed. The effectiveness of the proposed control method is validated through experiments on a PMSM test platform.

High-speed permanent magnet synchronous motors face significant stator current harmonics issues due to small stator inductance and low carrier ratio. LCL topology family of filters are unable to ensure optimal filtering performance across the full frequency domain. This paper proposes a novel high-order dual-trap filter for high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor (HS-PMSM) to enhance the filtering performance. The proposed filter utilizes the stator inductance to construct a LCL-based topology, enabling high attenuation of harmonics in the high-frequency range, and trap branches achieve strong suppression of harmonics near the switching frequency and its multiples. Furthermore, the filter improves robustness in response to parameter variations by tuning parameters of trap branches. The paper improves the filter parameter design guidelines by considering the specific characteristics of HS-PMSM. Additionally, a PI control parameter design methodology is presented, utilizing the amplitude margin and phase margin of the open-loop transfer function. The effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method is validated through comprehensive experimental analyses, comparing the performance of traditional filters against the proposed filter.
