P-coumaric acid is a nonflavonoid phenolic acid and is a major constituent of the speciesCynodon dactylonLinn. (Pers.). In this study isolation of P-coumaric acid was achieved by preparative TLC and the compound thus isolated was characterised by UV, mass, and H1NMR spectral analysis. An isocratic RP-HPLC method was developed for the estimation of P-coumaric acid from methanolic extracts of durva grass. The chromatographic separations were achieved by RP-C18column (250 mm × 4.6 mm, 5 μ), Shimadzu LC-20AT Prominence liquid chromatograph, and a mobile phase composed of water : methanol : glacial acetic acid (65 : 34 : 1 v/v). The flow rate was 1.0 mL/min and the analyses of column effluents were performed using UV-visible detector at 310 nm. Retention time of P-coumaric acid was found to be 6.617 min. This method has obeyed linearity over the concentration range of 2–10 μg/mL and the regression coefficient obtained from linearity plot for P-coumaric acid was found to be 0.999. RP-HPLC method was validated in pursuance of ICH guidelines.
The synthesis of nanostructure substances, specifically metal nanoparticles, has accrued utmost concern over the last decade owing to their particular properties that cause them to applicable in distinctive fields of technology era. The biological technique of nanoparticle synthesis is a relatively easy, reasonably-priced, and environmental friendly approaches than the conventional chemical technique of synthesis and accordingly profits a top hand
Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers. Graminae/Poaceae is called as Aruvam pillu in Tamil, Bermuda grass in English. A creeping herb rooting at the joints with smooth upward stem. It was distributed in all tropical and subtropical region of the world. The herb contains beta sitosterol, beta-carotene, vitamin C, palmitic acid, and triterpenoids. Alkaloids like ergonovine, ergonovivine, ferulic acid, syringic acid, vanillic acid. It is reported to have antiseptic, diuretic; It is a folk remedy for calculus, cancer, carbuncles, convulsions, cough, cramps, cystitis, and wounds. The aim of this research is to explore the antioxidant activity, leads to anticancer potential of this plant material. There were three different extracts used for the evaluation of this activity. In this, ethyl acetate and methanolic extracts showed sufficiently greater activity compared with the control in the study.
