In the realm of nanoparticles, metal-based nanoparticles have traditionally been regarded as the pioneering category. Compared to other nanoparticles, zinc oxide nanoparticles have several advantages, including optical and biological properties, which provide them a significant competitive advantage in clinical and biological applications. In the current investigation, we used an aqueous Mangifera indica seed extract to synthesize nanoparticles of zinc oxide (ZnO NPs). UV-Vis spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis, atomic force spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy were used to characterize the synthesized ZnO NPs. The nanoparticles were assessed for their potential to inhibit bacterial growth and protect cells from free radical damage. According to the current study’s findings, zinc oxide nanoparticles that had been modified with the aid of mango seeds were very efficient in preventing the development of the tested bacteria and were also powerful antioxidants.

Oxidative stress has been considered universally and undeniably implicated in the pathogenesis of all major diseases, including those of the cardiovascular system. Oxidative stress activate transcriptional messengers, such as nuclear factor—κB, tangibly contributing to endothelial dysfunction, the initiation and progression of atherosclerosis, irreversible damage after ischemic reperfusion, and even arrhythmia, such as atrial fibrillation. Evidence is rapidly accumulating to support the role of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS) as intracellular signaling molecules. Despite this connection between oxidative stress and cardiovascular disease (CVD), there are currently no recognized therapeutic interventions to address this important unmet need. Antioxidants that provide a broad, “upstream” approach via ROS/RNS quenching or free radical chain breaking seem an appropriate therapeutic option based on epidemiologic, dietary, and in vivo animal model data. Short-term dietary intervention trials suggest that diets rich in fruit and vegetable intake lead to improvements in coronary risk factors and reduce cardiovascular mortality. Carotenoids are such abundant, plant-derived, fat-soluble pigments that functions as antioxidants. They are stored in the liver or adipose tissue, and are lipid soluble by becoming incorporated into plasma lipoprotein particles during transport. For these reasons, carotenoids may represent one plausible mechanism by which fruits and vegetables reduce the risk of chronic diseases as cardiovascular disease (CVD). This review paper outlines the role of carotenoids in maintaining cardiac health and cardioprotection mediated by several mechanisms including redox signaling.

Background: Artificial intelligence (AI) holds significant promise for transforming healthcare delivery, including dentistry. However, the successful integration of AI into dental practice necessitates an understanding of dental professionals' perspectives, attitudes, and readiness to adopt AI technology. This study aimed to explore dental professionals' perceptions, attitudes, and practices regarding AI adoption in dentistry. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among 256 dental professionals using an online questionnaire. Participants were assessed for familiarity with AI technology, perceived barriers to adoption, attitudes towards AI, current usage patterns, and factors influencing adoption decisions. Data are analysed using descriptive statistics, including frequencies, percentages, means, and standard deviations. Inferential statistics, such as chi-square tests and regression analysis, were employed to examine associations between variables and identify predictors of AI adoption in dentistry. Results: The study surveyed 256 dental professionals from various regions across India, primarily aged 30 to 50 years (mean age: 42.6), with a nearly equal gender split (male: 48.4%, female: 51.6%) and high educational attainment (67.8% with master's or doctoral degrees). Private practices were predominant (56.3%). The diagnostic algorithms and treatment planning software were well known (77.3% and 70.3% familiarity, respectively). Technical concerns (average score: 3.82 ± 0.68) were the main barriers to AI adoption, followed by financial considerations (average score: 3.45 ± 0.72), ethical and legal issues (average score: 3.21 ± 0.65), and organizational factors (average score: 3.67 ± 0.71). Despite these concerns, most participants had positive attitudes towards AI (70.3% agreed). Current usage varied, with diagnostic support and administrative tasks being the most common (44.5% and 82.8% usage, respectively). Perceived utility (average score: 4.12 ± 0.75) and ease of use (average score: 3.98 ± 0.69) significantly influenced adoption, as identified by regression analysis (perceived utility: β = 0.342, p < 0.001; ease of use: β = 0.267, p = 0.005). Conclusion: This study provides valuable insights into AI adoption in dentistry, highlighting the multifaceted nature of barriers and facilitators that influence dental professionals’ adoption decisions. Strategies to promote AI adoption should address practical considerations, ethical concerns, and educational needs to facilitate the integration of AI technology into dental practices.

A major paradigm shift in the field of nanobiotechnology is the invention of an eco‐friendly, economical, and green approach for synthesis of metal nanoparticles. In the present study, we have synthesized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) using aqueous extracts of marine brown seaweed Sargassum longifolium. The synthesized nanoparticle was subjected to characterization using different techniques such as UV‐Vis spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, atomic force microscope, scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, and elemental dispersive X‐ray diffraction. Further, the seaweed extract and the synthesized AuNPs were evaluated for its anticancer effect using MG‐63 human osteosarcoma cells besides in vitro antioxidant effect. The formation of S. longifolium‐mediated synthesis of gold nanoparticles was demonstrated by UV‐Vis spectroscopy. Presence of elemental gold was confirmed by EDX analysis. TEM analysis demonstrated spherical morphology of the synthesized AuNPs and SEM analysis revealed the particle size to be in the range of 10‐60 nm. The FTIR showed the presence of hydroxyl functional groups. The toxicity of S. longifolium extract and the synthesized AuNPs was tested using brine shrimp lethality assay at different concentrations with results showing both seaweed extract and AuNPs to be nontoxic. Both S. longifolium and AuNPs exhibited significant antioxidant activity by scavenging DPPH free radicals and H2O2 radicals. Significant antiproliferative effect was observed against MG‐63 osteosarcoma cells. It was also shown that the seaweed extract and the AuNPs induced cytotoxicity in cell lines by mechanism of apoptosis. In conclusion, this study provided insight on AuNPs synthesized from S. longifolium as a potent antioxidant and anticancer agent.

Biocompatible and hard coated surface of 316L steel can be synthesized using the carbon nanotubes (CNT) suspended-EDM process. This research focuses on the influence of CNT on the treated 316L steel properties for the biomedical application and develops a relationship between the process variables and the material’s properties. Following the Taguchi’s L9 design, CNT is added in the EDM oil to synthesize a biocompatible and hard coating. A few characterization tools such as MTT assays, goniometer, Vicker’s hardness, scanning electron microscope (SEM), atom force microscope (AFM), X-ray diffraction (powder XRD) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) were adopted in this study. A thin layer of 14.65 µm, which attributes to a high wettability is found. The morphological images confirm a crack free, micro and nano porous surface. Compositional analysis ensures the carbides, intermetallic and oxides formation on the treated surface. Microhardness of 316L steel is improved to about 86%. Most importantly, approximately 70% cells show alive, which witnesses the biocompatibility of CNT incorporated coating. This work shows an improvement in the surface properties of 316L steel leading to the potential bio-devices.
