In order to solve the problem of decreased navigation performance of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)/inertial navigation system (INS) integrated navigation systems in GNSS-denied environments, and to improve the navigation accuracy and robustness of the navigation system, a novel adaptive federated filter with a feedback scheme for a GNSS/INS/visual odometry (VO) integrated navigation system is proposed in this paper. A visual-inertial odometry system model with a multi-state constraint Kalman filter structure based on a polar geometry and trifocal tensor geometry between different images is established, which can provide better navigation accuracy in GNSS-denied environments. Moreover, a new method to obtain the information allocation factor according to the different navigation performances of local filters is deduced in this paper, which has low computational complexity and a simple structure. Meanwhile, an abnormal measurement detection algorithm based on fuzzy logic is proposed to detect the abnormal measurements of local filters. The results of the vehicle experiment with the publicly available real-world KITTI dataset show that the proposed algorithm can obtain reliable navigation results in GNSS-denied environments and improve the navigation accuracy and robustness of the GNSS/INS/VO integrated navigation system.

Aiming at the problems of Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) observation errors and inaccurate kinematic model in ultra-wideband (UWB) systems, this paper proposed an improved robust adaptive cubature Kalman filter (IRACKF). Robust and adaptive filtering can weaken the influence of observed outliers and kinematic model errors on filtering, respectively. However, their application conditions are different, and improper use may reduce positioning accuracy. Therefore, this paper designed a sliding window recognition scheme based on polynomial fitting, which can process the observation data in real-time to identify error types. Simulation and experimental results indicate that compared to the robust CKF, adaptive CKF, and robust adaptive CKF, the IRACKF algorithm reduces the position error by 38.0%, 45.1%, and 25.3%, respectively. The proposed IRACKF algorithm significantly improves the positioning accuracy and stability of the UWB system.

The Ultra-Wideband (UWB) indoor positioning method is widely used in areas where no satellite signals are available. However, during the measurement process of UWB, the collected data contain random errors. To alleviate the effect of random errors on positioning accuracy, an improved adaptive sparrow search algorithm (IASSA) based on the sparrow search algorithm (SSA) is proposed in this paper by introducing three strategies, namely, the two-step weighted least squares algorithm, adaptive adjustment of search boundary, and producer–scrounger quantity adaptive adjustment. The simulation and field test results indicate that the IASSA algorithm achieves significantly higher localization accuracy than previous methods. Meanwhile, the IASSA algorithm requires fewer iterations, which overcomes the problem of the long computation time of the swarm intelligence optimization algorithm. Therefore, the IASSA algorithm has advantages in indoor positioning accuracy and robustness performance.

Visual-inertial odometry (VIO) has been widely applied in the autonomous navigation and positioning of UAVs and UGVs in GNSS-denied environments. However, existing VIO filtering algorithms have the defects of low positioning accuracy and weak robustness, especially in complex and changeable environments. Therefore, a novel robust adaptive VIO algorithm is proposed here. First, the H∞ criterion is introduced into the popular cubature multi-state constraint Kalman filter (CMSCKF), which improves the robustness of the VIO system. Second, this paper designs a characterization method to judge the uncertainty degree of VIO based on the limited memory exponential weighting theory. Finally, inspired by the idea of the IGG III model, we further put forward a three-stage robust adaptive H∞ filtering algorithm and test the performance with the numerical simulation and the publicly available real-world KITTI dataset. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has better filtering accuracy and robustness.

This In the context of autonomous driving within vehicular networks, the accuracy of vehicle positioning is crucial for smooth operation. However, single navigation systems, such as satellite navigation and inertial navigation, cannot fully guarantee continuous high-precision positioning of vehicles. Therefore, achieving high-precision positioning through information collaboration between vehicles has become a primary approach. This article proposes a large-scale vehicle cooperative positioning method based on neural networks. This method addresses the characteristics of vehicles freely clustering and dispersing during travel by introducing principal component analysis (PCA) to process navigation information, reducing computational complexity. Additionally, it employs the Fireworks Neural Network method to rapidly integrate navigation information within the vehicular network, ensuring positioning accuracy and stability during vehicle operation. Compared with existing cooperative positioning methods, experimental results show that the proposed method has faster convergence speed and greater positioning stability.

When robots perform localization in indoor low-light environments, factors such as weak and uneven lighting can degrade image quality. This degradation results in a reduced number of feature extractions by the visual odometry front end and may even cause tracking loss, thereby impacting the algorithm’s positioning accuracy. To enhance the localization accuracy of mobile robots in indoor low-light environments, this paper proposes a visual inertial odometry method (L-MSCKF) based on the multi-state constraint Kalman filter. Addressing the challenges of low-light conditions, we integrated Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) data with stereo vision odometry. The algorithm includes an image enhancement module and a gyroscope zero-bias correction mechanism to facilitate feature matching in stereo vision odometry. We conducted tests on the EuRoC dataset and compared our method with other similar algorithms, thereby validating the effectiveness and accuracy of L-MSCKF.
