Identification of Influential nodes in complex networks is challenging due to the largely scaled data and network sizes, and frequently changing behaviors of the current topologies. Various application scenarios like disease transmission and immunization, software virus infection and disinfection, increased product exposure and rumor suppression, etc., are applicable domains in the corresponding networks where identification of influential nodes is crucial. Though a lot of approaches are proposed to address the challenges, most of the relevant research concentrates only on single and limited aspects of the problem. Therefore, we propose Global Structure Model (GSM) for influential nodes identification that considers self-influence as well as emphasizes on global influence of the node in the network. We applied GSM and utilized Susceptible Infected Recovered model to evaluate its efficiency. Moreover, various standard algorithms such as Betweenness Centrality, Profit Leader, H-Index, Closeness Centrality, Hyperlink Induced Topic Search, Improved K-shell Hybrid, Density Centrality, Extended Cluster Coefficient Ranking Measure, and Gravity Index Centrality are employed as baseline benchmarks to evaluate the performance of GSM. Similarly, we used seven real-world and two synthetic multi-typed complex networks along-with different well-known datasets for experiments. Results analysis indicates that GSM outperformed the baseline algorithms in identification of influential node(s).

The identification of influential nodes is essential to research regarding network attacks, information dissemination, and epidemic spreading. Thus, techniques for identifying influential nodes in complex networks have been the subject of increasing attention. During recent decades, many methods have been proposed from various viewpoints, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. In this paper, an efficient algorithm is proposed for identifying influential nodes, using weighted formal concept analysis (WFCA), which is a typical computational intelligence technique. We call this a WFCA-based influential nodes identification algorithm. The basic idea is to quantify the importance of nodes via WFCA. Specifically, this model converts the binary relationships between nodes in a given network into a knowledge hierarchy, and employs WFCA to aggregate the nodes in terms of their attributes. The more nodes aggregated, the more important each attribute becomes. WFCA not only works on undirected or directed networks, but is also applicable to attributed networks. To evaluate the performance of WFCA, we employ the SIR model to examine the spreading efficiency of each node, and compare the WFCA algorithm with PageRank, HITS, K-shell, H-index, eigenvector centrality, closeness centrality, and betweenness centrality on several real-world networks. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the WFCA algorithm ranks nodes effectively, and outperforms several state-of-the-art algorithms.

Mobile phone applications have been rapidly growing and emerging with the Internet of Things (IoT) applications in augmented reality, virtual reality, and ultra-clear video due to the development of mobile Internet services in the last three decades. These applications demand intensive computing to support data analysis, real-time video processing, and decision-making for optimizing the user experience. Mobile smart devices play a significant role in our daily life, and such an upward trend is continuous. Nevertheless, these devices suffer from limited resources such as CPU, memory, and energy. Computation offloading is a promising technique that can promote the lifetime and performance of smart devices by offloading local computation tasks to edge servers. In light of this situation, the strategy of computation offloading has been adopted to solve this problem. In this paper, we propose a computation offloading strategy under a scenario of multi-user and multi-mobile edge servers that considers the performance of intelligent devices and server resources. The strategy contains three main stages. In the offloading decision-making stage, the basis of offloading decision-making is put forward by considering the factors of computing task size, computing requirement, computing capacity of server, and network bandwidth. In the server selection stage, the candidate servers are evaluated comprehensively by multi-objective decision-making, and the appropriate servers are selected for the computation offloading. In the task scheduling stage, a task scheduling model based on the improved auction algorithm has been proposed by considering the time requirement of the computing tasks and the computing performance of the mobile edge computing server. Extensive simulations have demonstrated that the proposed computation offloading strategy could effectively reduce service delay and the energy consumption of intelligent devices, and improve user experience.

Efficient identification of influential nodes is one of the essential aspects in the field of complex networks, which has excellent theoretical and practical significance in the real world. A valuable number of approaches have been developed and deployed in these areas where just a few have used centrality measures along with their concerning deficiencies and limitations in their studies. Therefore, to resolve these challenging issues, we propose a novel effective distance‐based centrality (EDBC) algorithm for the identification of influential nodes in concerning networks. EDBC algorithm comprises factors such as the power of K‐shell, degree nodes, effective distance, and numerous levels of neighbor’s influence or neighborhood potential. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated on nine real‐world networks, where a susceptible infected recovered (SIR) epidemic model is employed to examine the spreading dynamics of each node. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the existing techniques such as eigenvector, betweenness, closeness centralities, hyperlink‐induced topic search, H‐index, K‐shell, page rank, profit leader, and gravity over a valuable margin.
