Dr. Alexander Zaboronok is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Neurosurgery, Institute of Medicine, University of Tsukuba. He obtained his MD degree in 2004 and completed his neurosurgery residency in 2008. He received a scholarship for young researchers from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT) and began his postgraduate studies at the University of Tsukuba in April 2008, earning his PhD in Clinical Medicine in 2013. His awards include the 1st (2017), 2nd (2013), and 3rd (2021) best neurosurgical presentation awards at the Japan Neurosurgery English Forum, the 15th Kenichi Uemura Award for the second-best presentation at the 21st JASMEE Academic Meeting (2018, Tokyo), personal grants-in-aid for young researchers (2014-2018), and grants-in-aid for scientific research (2020-2025) from MEXT. Since 2009, Dr. Zaboronok has authored and co-authored 61 scientific publications. In 2015, he joined the Tsukuba Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) research group and, since 2017, has been a key figure in fostering international relations and collaboration between the Department of Neurosurgery and foreign institutions. His teaching disciplines include neurosurgery, radiobiology, and radiation genetics. His research interests focus on BNCT, glioma radiotherapy, developing nanoparticles and liposomes for glioma treatment using BNCT, AI-based stroke diagnosis and rehabilitation, and hypnotherapy, particularly for cancer patients.
