Digital Twin (DT) technologies have demonstrated a positive impact across various stages of the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. Nevertheless, the industry has been slow to undergo digital transformation. The paper utilizes the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach to study a total of 842 papers on the application of DT in buildings, landscapes, and urban environments (BLU) from 2018 to 2024. Based on the research results, suggestions have been made for future research and practical directions. Meanwhile, it provides assistance to BLU’s designers, constructors, managers, and policymakers in establishing their understanding of the digital transformation of the AEC industry. The existing relevant research can be mainly divided into three categories: case study, framework study, and technology study. Compared with the buildings and urban environment industries, the number and depth of research in the landscape industry are relatively low. Through in-depth analysis of BLU projects, three research trends in the future are determined: (1) research and application of DT framework in the design and planning stage; (2) development of design tools and basic theory based on DT model; (3) application and exploration of DT technology in the landscape industry.

Prefabricated building has become one of the most significant research directions in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry and has attracted a large number of scholars and practitioners in recent years. However, few studies have conducted a systematic review on the development of prefabricated building research around the world. In this study, the scientometric method is used to analyze the literature on prefabricated buildings in the past ten years through analysis of co‐authors, co‐words, and co‐citation. From the Web of Science (WOS) core collection database, a total of 1224 articles were collected for statistics and analysis. The analysis results indicated that Bruno Dal Lago obtained the maximum number of co‐citations, and the most significant country/region and research institution in prefabricated building research were China and Tongji University, respectively. It was also found that engineering, civil engineering, and construction and building technology were the top three subject categories that prefabricated building research belonged to. Among all the keywords of the collected articles, citation bursts were received by “cladding panel,” “precast concrete,” and “project.” Moreover, there were 11 co‐citation clusters identified from the articles, and their themes included precast structures, waste management, progressive collapse, delay, precast facades, carbon reduction, laser scanning, and prefabricated residential building. This paper is expected to provide researchers and practitioners in this field a detailed and in‐depth understanding of the trend and status of global research on prefabricated buildings.

Poor indoor air quality reduces the comfort experienced in the environment and can also harm our physical health. Mechanical ventilation design plays an important role in improving the indoor environment and the safety of public toilets. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to evaluate public toilet ventilation design schemes through a digital twin to determine the most effective scheme for reducing indoor pollutant concentrations. In this study, we used Autodesk Revit to create a digital twin BIM of different ventilation systems. We simulated the diffusion of pollutants in these models using computational fluid dynamics (CFD)-based methods, and we used DesignBuilder to simulate building energy consumption. From the perspective of architectural design, we determined measures important for reducing the concentration of air pollutants by increasing the number and volume of air exchanges and controlling the installation height of exhaust vents. The results show that the ventilation design of an all-air air conditioning system with an exhaust height of 400 mm can remarkably improve the indoor environmental health and ventilation efficiency of public toilets, while consuming 20.4% less energy and reducing carbon emissions by 30,681 kg CO2.

Background: The first community transmission of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) Delta variant of concern (VOC) in Guangzhou, China occurred between May and June 2021. Herein, we describe the epidemiological characteristics of this outbreak and evaluate the implemented containment measures against this outbreak. Methodology/Principal findings: Guangzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention provided the data on SARS-CoV-2 infections reported between 21 May and 24 June 2021. We estimated the incubation period distribution by fitting a gamma distribution to the data, while the serial interval distribution was estimated by fitting a normal distribution. The instantaneous effective reproductive number (Rt) was estimated to reflect the transmissibility of SARS-CoV-2. Clinical severity was compared for cases with different vaccination statuses using an ordinal regression model after controlling for age. Of the reported local cases, 7/153 (4.6%) were asymptomatic. The median incubation period was 6.02 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 5.42–6.71) days and the means of serial intervals decreased from 5.19 (95% CI: 4.29–6.11) to 3.78 (95% CI: 2.74–4.81) days. The incubation period increased with age (P<0.001). A hierarchical prevention and control strategy against COVID-19 was implemented in Guangzhou, with Rt decreasing from 6.83 (95% credible interval [CrI]: 3.98–10.44) for the 7-day time window ending on 27 May 2021 to below 1 for the time window ending on 8 June and thereafter. Individuals with partial or full vaccination schedules with BBIBP-CorV or CoronaVac accounted for 15.3% of the COVID-19 cases. Clinical symptoms were milder in partially or fully vaccinated cases than in unvaccinated cases (odds ratio [OR] = 0.26 [95% CI: 0.07–0.94]). Conclusions/Significance: The hierarchical prevention and control strategy against COVID-19 in Guangzhou was timely and effective. Authorised inactivated vaccines are likely to contribute to reducing the probability of developing severe disease. Our findings have important implications for the containment of COVID-19.

The outdoor wind environment and thermal environment are important factors affecting human comfort in cold winter conditions. The spatial layout of plant communities plays an important role in improving the outdoor microclimate and improving outdoor comfort. In order to explore the positive effect of plant layout on outdoor comfort in cold winter, this study took Xuzhou Tangfang Middle School with typical layout characteristics as the research object. In this study, we simulated the wind environment of these models using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) methods and the outdoor thermal environment using Ecotect (2011), and used linear regression and one-way ANOVA for mathematical statistics. The wind environment and Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI) of campus outdoor activities distributed in different spaces were analyzed and evaluated. The research results showed that the superposition of wind and thermal environments identified the key areas of the campus (cross-flow area and corner flow area) and showed a negative correlation. The staggered layout of the three plant combinations increases the wind prevention efficiency by 39.4%. At the same time, this study established the linkage mechanism of campus plant layout, environmental microclimate, and activity area comfort, which effectively improved outdoor human comfort in cold winter. This research can provide a reference for the remediation and improvement of the comfort of the same type of campus, and also provide data support and reference significance for the research on the outdoor pedestrian environment in winter.

This study proposes a productization framework to improve the design standardization of rural low-rise prefabricated residences (RLPR) in southern Jiangsu, China. The framework is built on three industrialized structural system prototypes: the prefabricated lightweight steel system (LSSCS), the composite cavity system (CCCS), and the rigid skeleton system (RSCS). At its core is a Python-based algorithmic workflow that automates and optimizes component system standardization. It automatically matches homestead dimensions to suitable layout types and applies combinatorial optimization to structural and enclosure components to minimize component variety. A case study validates the framework. From user-defined constraints, it generates a detailed parametric model and bill of materials, demonstrating a standardized, streamlined, and product-oriented RLPR design process.
