Professor and computer scientist, expert in Artificial Neural Networks and Adaptive Artificial Systems. He is the President and Director of Semeion - Research Center of Communication Sciences (Scientific body recognized by the Ministry of Education, University and Research MIUR). He is a Professor at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Colorado in Denver (USA), and is among the founders of the Center for Computational and Mathematical Biology (CCMB) at the same University. He was a consultant for the "Presidency of the Council of Ministers", on projects related to security, and for 5 years he was a scientific consultant for New Scotland Yard, London, (UK). He is a member of the Scientific and Editorial Committee of various international journals in the field of Artificial Intelligence and in the biomedical field. He has conceived, designed, built, and developed new mathematical models and algorithms of Artificial Intelligence. He is the author of numerous scientific publications on theoretical and methodological aspects of Natural Computation. He has published over 250 scientific articles in international journals, and is the author of 20 books on original theories and models in the field of Artificial Intelligence. As an inventor, he has so far filed 22 international patents in various countries.
