Lars Carlsen is the owner of the Awareness Center. He
received his BSc, MSc, and PhD from the University of Copenhagen in 1972, 1974
and 1977, respectively. He also holds a DSc from Roskilde University. He has
both a science background and a managerial background a.o. Based on 13 years of
appointment to Risø National Laboratory, 9 years as director of the research
department at the National Environmental Research Institute, and considerable
supplementary training in management and personal development. He has been an
Adjunct Professor (Environmental Chemistry) at the Institute of Environmental,
Social and Spatial Change (ENSPAC), Roskilde University since 2002 and as an
External lecturer (Environmental Chemistry) since 2003. He was an External
professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Kazakh-British Technical
University, Almaty, Kazakhstan from 2009 to 2016. He founded the Awareness
Center in 2000. He has more than 30 years of experience in R&D and training
activities within environmental chemistry, ranging from studies on nuclear
waste disposal to risk assessment of organic xenobiotics. He has over the years
publishes the results of his R&D activities in more than 450 peer-review’ed
papers, reports and book contributions in addition to lectures/conference
contributions (250+).
