Simone Garagnani is an engineer with a PhD in Building and Territorial Engineering from the University of Bologna (2010). Since 2003, he has been involved in teaching and research activities concerning drawing, surveys, and digital representation at the Department of Architecture, University of Bologna. Post-doctoral research associate since 2010, Simone was a researcher at the Interdepartmental Center for Industrial Research of the University of Bologna, developing software and db methodologies that are BIM-related (2012-14). Simone Garagnani was the Research Unit Coordinator for the Future in Research project titled "Kainua. Restituire, percepire, divulgare l'assente. Tecnologie transmediali per la città etrusca di Marzabotto", in collaboration with CINECA and the Department of History, Cultures and Civilizations of the University of Bologna. Simone carries out research concerning computer graphics, color representation, digital modelling, architectural three-dimensional laser scanning, and BIM and computer archiving technologies applied to architecture, archaeology and cultural heritage. He developed specific studies on BIM processes related to existing buildings at the University of California, Berkeley (Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, 2012), as a visiting scholar. In 2015, Simone was a guest associate professor at Keio University in Tokyo, Japan. He is currently associate professor at the Department of Human Studies, University of Urbino Carlo Bo.
