Space charge accumulation in polypropylene (PP) affect the dielectric properties and breakdown strength of the material. The pre-injected charge in PP under the action of different polarity voltage is quantitatively characterized, and the effects of the pre-injected charge inside the dielectric on the dielectric properties and breakdown strength are measured and analyzed. Based on the molecular simulations, the influence mechanism of the temperature on dielectric properties and breakdown are discussed. The experimental results show that the injected charges in PP under the negative polarity voltage is significantly larger than that of the positive polarity. These charges have a great influence on the dielectric constant and breakdown performance of PP, and the effect is different for different charge polarity. The effect of negative polarity pre-voltage conditions on the dielectric constant is much greater than that of positive polarity, and the dielectric constant of PP decreases from 2.2 to 1.3, decreasing about 41% under the negative polarity pre-voltage. By contrast, the dielectric constant slightly increases under the effect of the homopolar preload. Furthermore, the breakdown strength of the dielectric after the heteropolar preload is 249 kV/mm, which is 36% lower than that of PP without pre-voltage, and it slightly increases after the positive polarity pre-voltage. As the temperature increases, the increase in free volume favors the development of electron collision ionization and electron collapse processes, leading to a decrease in breakdown voltage at high temperatures. This work has a good guiding significance for the comprehensive evaluation of energy storage parameters.

In the practical scene, object detection faces a very complicated situation. The occlusion problem always occurs in actual scene, which may affect the accuracy of object detection, especially for the occluded objects. For the deep models, a larger dataset with sufficient occlusion samples will improve the performance of the object detection models. However, the sample with occlusion problem is too hard to obtain. Therefore, a global average pooling(GAP) based adversarial Faster-RCNN is proposed to generate the hard samples and enhance the performance of object detection algorithm. Sufficient hard samples can be generated with the help of this model. Therefore, the object detection model can be trained adequately for the occluded objects. The hard sample generation is carried out in the space of image feature instead of image generation directly. The class-dependent part is obtained by the GAP network, and it is obscured to generate the feature map of hard sample for model reinforcement training. Therefore, the better object detection model can be trained using a conventional dataset. The Faster-RCNN is adopted as the baseline. The Faster-RCNN and GAP have a joint training to improve the performance of the proposed model. The simulation results exhibit the validation of the proposed algorithm.

Dissolved gas in oil analysis (DGA) is one of the most reliable condition monitoring techniques that is currently used by the industry to detect incipient faults within power transformers. While the technique is well matured since the development of various offline and online measurement techniques along with various interpretation methods, no much attention was given so far to the oil sampling time and its correlation with the transformer loading. A power transformer loading is subject to continuous daily and seasonal variations which is expected to increase with the increased penetration level of renewable energy sources of intermittent characteristics such as photovoltaic (PV) and wind energy into the current electricity grids. Generating unit transformers also undergo similar loading variations to follow the demand particularly in the new electricity market. As such, the insulation system within power transformers is expected to exhibit operating temperature variations due to the continuous ramping up and down of the generation and load. If oil is sampled for DGA measurement during such ramping cycles, results will not be accurate and a fault may be reported due to a gas evolution resulting from such temporarily loading variation. This paper is aimed at correlating the generation and load ramping with the DGA measurements through extensive experimental analyses. Results reveal a strong correlation between the sampling time and generation/load ramping. Experimental results show the effect of load variations on gas generation and demonstrate the vulnerabilities of misinterpretation of transformer faults resulting from temporary gas evolution. To achieve accurate DGA, transformer loading profile during oil sampling for DGA measurement should be available. Based on the initial investigation in this paper, more accurate DGA results can be achieved after a ramping down cycle of the load. This sampling time could be defined as an optimum oil sampling time for transformer DGA.

In order to increase the thermal conductivity of neat epoxy resin and broaden its practical application in high-voltage insulation systems, we have constructed four kinds of epoxy resin nanocomposite models (a neat epoxy resin (EP), a graphene-doped epoxy resin nanocomposite (EP/GR) and hydroxyl- or carboxyl-functionalized graphene-doped epoxy resin nanocomposites (EP/GR-OH or EP/GR-COOH)) to systematically investigate their thermodynamic and electrical properties using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Compared with the EP model, carboxyl-functionalized graphene particles enhanced the thermal conductivity of the EP/GR-COOH model by 66.5% and increased its Tg by 26.6 K. Furthermore, the dielectric constant of the EP/GR-COOH model was significantly reduced. To investigate the intrinsic mechanism, the lowest fraction of free volume (13.22%) and the largest number of hydrogen bonds (102.2) in the EP/GR-COOH model were identified as playing essential roles for its excellent thermodynamic properties and favorable electrical performance. The present study provides a molecular-level understanding of the satisfactory thermodynamic and electrical properties of the EP/GR-COOH nanocomposite, which will aid in designing novel epoxy resin nanocomposite materials with high thermal conductivity.

Polyimide (PI) can be used as a cladding insulation for high frequency power transformers, and along-side discharge can lead to insulation failure, so material modification techniques are used. In this paper, different doped nano-SiO2 are introduced into polyimide for nanocomposite modification. The results of testing the life time of high-frequency electrical stress along-side discharge show that the 10% SiO2 doping has the longest life time. The results show that: for composites prone to corona, their flashover causes more damage, and both positive half-cycle and polarity reversal discharges are more violent; compared to pure PI, the positive half-cycle and overall discharge amplitude and number of modified films are smaller, but the negative half-cycle is larger; at creeping development stages, the number of discharges is smaller, and the discharge amplitude of both films fluctuates in the mid-term, with the modified films having fewer discharges and the PI films discharging more violently in the later stages. The increase in the intensity of the discharge was greater in the later stages, and the amplitude and number of discharges were much higher than those of the modified film, which led to a rapid breakdown of the pure polyimide film. Further research found that resistivity plays an important role in the structural properties of the material in the middle and late stages, light energy absorption in the modified film plays an important role, the distribution of traps also affects the discharge process, and in the late stages of the discharge, the heating of the material itself has a greater impact on the breakdown, so the pure polyimide film as a whole discharges more severely and has the shortest life.

The impregnation and curing process of dry bushing requires the epoxy material for bushing to have a good process performance. In addition, the actual operating conditions of dry bushing put forward high requirements on the dielectric properties of the epoxy material. Amine accelerators can not only improve the technological properties of epoxy materials such as gel time and curing exothermic temperature rise by regulating the reaction rate of epoxy resin and anhydride curing agent, but also optimize the dielectric properties of epoxy materials by regulating the crosslinking density of epoxy materials. However, there are many types of amine accelerators, and the effects of amine accelerators with different nucleophilicity on epoxy materials vary greatly. In this paper, four kinds of amine accelerators with different nucleophilic ability were selected to study the influence of the nucleophilic ability of amine accelerators on the process and dielectric properties of epoxy materials. The results show that the stronger the nucleophilicity of the amine accelerator, the shorter the gel time of the epoxy mixture and the higher the exothermic temperature rise during curing, indicating a poorer processing performance. However, stronger nucleophilicity also endows the epoxy material with superior dielectric properties. Among them, the strong nucleophilic ability of TEA shortens the gel time of the material by 50% and increases the curing exothermic temperature rise by 55.3% compared with the weak nucleophilic ability of the DET epoxy system; the dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the material are reduced by 8.3% and 39.5%, respectively, and the breakdown strength is improved by 11.4%. This paper reveals the contradictory relationship between the process and dielectric performance of epoxy materials triggered by the difference in the nucleophilic ability of amine accelerators, and it also provides a new research idea for the improvement of the process and in the dielectric performance of epoxy materials for dry bushing.
