Purpose: The aim of this work was to investigate the risk factors for cement leakage and new-onset OVCF after Percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) and to develop and validate a clinical prediction model (Nomogram). Methods: Patients with Osteoporotic VCF (OVCF) treated with PVP at Liuzhou People’s Hospital from June 2016 to June 2018 were reviewed and met the inclusion criteria. Relevant data affecting bone cement leakage and new onset of OVCF were collected. Predictors were screened using univariate and multi-factor logistic analysis to construct Nomogram and web calculators. The consistency of the prediction models was assessed using calibration plots, and their predictive power was assessed by tenfold cross-validation. Clinical value was assessed using Decision curve analysis (DCA) and clinical impact plots. Results: Higher BMI was associated with lower bone mineral density (BMD). Higher BMI, lower BMD, multiple vertebral fractures, no previous anti-osteoporosis treatment, and steroid use were independent risk factors for new vertebral fractures. Cement injection volume, time to surgery, and multiple vertebral fractures were risk factors for cement leakage after PVP. The development and validation of the Nomogram also demonstrated the predictive ability and clinical value of the model. Conclusions: The established Nomogram and web calculator (https://dr-lee.shinyapps.io/RefractureApp/) (https://dr-lee.shinyapps.io/LeakageApp/) can effectively predict the occurrence of cement leakage and new OVCF after PVP.

Current brain cognitive models are insufficient in handling outliers and dynamics of electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. This article presents a novel self-paced dynamic infinite mixture model to infer the dynamics of EEG fatigue signals. The instantaneous spectrum features provided by ensemble wavelet transform and Hilbert transform are extracted to form four fatigue indicators. The covariance of log likelihood of the complete data is proposed to accurately identify similar components and dynamics of the developed mixture model. Compared with its seven peers, the proposed model shows better performance in automatically identifying a pilot's brain workload.
Pilots' brain fatigue status recognition faces two important issues. They are how to extract brain cognitive features and how to identify these fatigue characteristics. In this article, a gamma deep belief network is proposed to extract multilayer deep representations of high-dimensional cognitive data. The Dirichlet distributed connection weight vector is upsampled layer by layer in each iteration, and then the hidden units of the gamma distribution are downsampled. An effective upper and lower Gibbs sampler is formed to realize the automatic reasoning of the network structure. In order to extract the 3-D instantaneous time-frequency distribution spectrum of electroencephalogram (EEG) signals and avoid signal modal aliasing, this article also proposes a smoothed pseudo affine Wigner-Ville distribution method. Finally, experimental results show that our model achieves satisfactory results in terms of both recognition accuracy and stability.
With the advances of liquid biopsy technology, there is increasing evidence that body fluid such as blood, urine, and saliva could harbor the potential biomarkers associated with tumor origin. Traditional correlation analysis methods are no longer sufficient to capture the high-resolution complex relationships between biomarkers and cancer subtype heterogeneity. To address the challenge, researchers proposed machine learning techniques with liquid biopsy data to explore the essence of tumor origin together. In this survey, we review the machine learning protocols and provide corresponding code demos for the approaches mentioned. We discuss algorithmic principles and frameworks extensively developed to reveal cancer mechanisms and consider the future prospects in biomarker exploration and cancer diagnostics.

This article proposes a four-dimensional brain mapping method, which can represent the continuous process of a person’s fatigue state in the form of image frames in a space-time range. This work couples 3-D-convolutional neural networks and long-short-term memory networks to form a cognitive detection model of brain fatigue dynamics, which can simulate the continuous process of a person’s brain fatigue dynamics and accurately identify different cognitive fatigue states. Our approach can be applied to any type of brain fatigue detection.

With the development of research on novel memristor model and device, neural networks by integrating various memristor models have become a hot research topic recently. However, state-of-the-art works still build such neural networks using drift memristor only. Furthermore, some other related works are only applied to a few individual applications including pattern recognition and edge detection. In this paper, a novel kind of multilayer neural network is proposed, in which diffusion and drift memristor models are applied to construct a system merging image preprocessing and pattern recognition. Specifically, the entire network consists of two diffusion memristive cellular layers for image preprocessing and one drift memristive feedforward layer for pattern recognition. Experimental results show that good recognition accuracy of noisy MNIST is obtained due to the fusion of image preprocessing and pattern recognition. Moreover, owing to high-efficiency in-memory computing and brief spiking encoding methods, high processing speed, high throughput, and few hardware resources of the entire network are achieved.
