The construction industry is facing a data tsunami, while emerging information technologies (IT) show great potential for the effective processing of these data or information. However, a comprehensive review for technological change, the resulting process, and organizational changes in the Big Data context, especially from the angle of whole lifecycle of construction project, is lacking. To fill the void, related works published in the databases of Web of Science, Science Direct, and American Society of Civil Engineers library are systematically reviewed. The general trend in emerging IT application in terms of construction project management (CPM) phases, technology and application, and research topics are revealed. Following this analysis, the particularized proposals in relation to each of the main topics within CPM is discussed. Furthermore, according to the advances and limitations of the current literature, corresponding future agendas such as the implementation of comprehensive data‐driven CPM scenario are proposed to bridge the gaps between theoretical research and practical demands.

Traffic accidents occur frequently, causing significant losses to people’s lives and property safety. Accurately predicting the severity level of traffic accidents is of great significance. Based on traffic accident data, this study comprehensively considers various influencing factors such as the geographical location, road conditions, and environment. The data are divided into accident-related categories, weather-related categories, and road- and environment-related categories. The machine learning method is improved through integration for the accident level prediction. In the experiment, effective preprocessing measures were taken for problems such as data imbalance, missing values, the encoding of categorical variables, and the standardization of numerical features. The unbalanced distribution of “Severity” was improved through under-sampling and over-sampling techniques. Firstly, we adopted a multi-stage fusion strategy. A multi-layer perceptron (MLP) was used for the preliminary prediction, and then its result was combined with the original features to form a new feature. Decision tree, XGBoost, and random forest algorithms, respectively, were applied for the secondary prediction. The analysis results show that the improved machine learning model is significantly superior to a single model in the overall performance. The “MLP + random forest” model performs well in evaluation indicators such as the accuracy, recall rate, and F1 value. The accuracy rate is as high as 94%. In the prediction of different traffic accident severity levels (minor, moderate, and severe), the improved machine learning model also generally shows better performance and stability. The research results of this study have broad prospects in the field of intelligent driving. It can realize real-time accident prediction and early warnings, and provide decision support for drivers and autonomous driving systems. The research also provides a scientific basis for traffic planning and management departments to improve driving conditions and reduce the probability and losses of traffic accidents.

A PBO is a temporary organization formed by assembling members with diverse experiences and backgrounds, aimed at achieving specific innovation goals. Constructing a reasonable communication network structure and enhancing organizational synergy are effective ways to promote the sustainable development of the system. This study, based on the Input–Process–Output (IPO) model and social network analysis, utilized a group collaboration platform to conduct a three-stage communication experiment on 685 construction project managers. Under two organizational sizes, the internal mechanism of how communication networks with two levels of centralization influence task performance were tested. The results indicate that in the case of a smaller organizational size, PBOs using a decentralized communication network tend to achieve higher task performance. However, as the organizational size expands, PBOs employing a centralized communication network may surpass in task performance. Additionally, we found that with the expansion of organizational size, bootleg innovation behaviors of organizational members are continually stimulated, further enhancing collective task performance. This study, based on the evolution of communication network parameters, explores the structural characteristics of organizational communication networks and the mechanisms underlying the emergence of bootleg innovation behaviors. It delineates the key pathways for improving collective task performance. The findings can provide a scientific reference for the organizational evolution and development of engineering project management.

In the context of global sustainable development strategies and the rise of intelligent construction, it has become increasingly urgent for universities to adapt construction management curricula to meet the demands of this new era. However, prior education-reform-based studies rarely offer a systematic, educator-centered prioritization of knowledge areas, limiting actionable guidance for course sequencing and credit-hour allocation. To address this gap, this study identifies eight essential knowledge categories for construction management education through a comprehensive literature review and a survey of faculty members with strong theoretical and practical experience. An improved Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) model, weighted by the Consistency Ratio (CR), is applied to prioritize these areas. Results show that Fundamentals of Construction (18.50%), BIM (18.08%), and AI and Big Data (17.07%) received the highest importance values. These findings emphasize the need for curriculum reorientation to align with intelligent construction. This study contributes to modernizing construction management education and offers practical insights for curriculum development, ensuring alignment with industry trends and technological advancements.
