This paper develops a multi-task learning framework that attempts to incorporate the image structure knowledge to assist image inpainting, which is not well explored in previous works. The primary idea is to train a shared generator to simultaneously complete the corrupted image and corresponding structures — edge and gradient, thus implicitly encouraging the generator to exploit relevant structure knowledge while inpainting. In the meantime, we also introduce a structure embedding scheme to explicitly embed the learned structure features into the inpainting process, thus to provide possible preconditions for image completion. Specifically, a novel pyramid structure loss is proposed to supervise structure learning and embedding. Moreover, an attention mechanism is developed to further exploit the recurrent structures and patterns in the image to refine the generated structures and contents. Through multi-task learning, structure embedding besides with attention, our framework takes advantage of the structure knowledge and outperforms several state-of-the-art methods on benchmark datasets quantitatively and qualitatively.

This paper focus on the chaos identification and prediction of the pressure time series in water supply network. Firstly, due to the water pressure data collected from the SCADA contains a lot of noise and some mutation, the wavelet transform method is introduced, and it effectively distinguished the pressure mutation parts from noise. Secondly, based on chaotic identification theory, the Rosenstein method was applied to calculate the maximum Lyapunov exponent and the chaos was verified in the pressure time series. Thirdly, for the complexity of the pressure sequence, the embedded space technology combined with neural network modeling method is proposed to predict the pressure time series. Finally, a practical example shows that the prediction method has a good stability and accuracy.

Change detection based on optical image processing plays a crucial role in the field of damage assessment. Although existing damage scene change detection methods have achieved some good results, they are faced with challenges, such as low accuracy and slow speed in optical image change detection. To solve these problems, an image change detection approach that combines infrared polarization imaging with a fast principal component analysis network (Fast-PCANet) is proposed. Firstly, the acquired infrared polarization images are analyzed, and pixel image blocks are extracted and filtered to obtain the candidate change points. Then, the Fast-PCANet network framework is established, and the candidate pixel image blocks are sent to the network to detect the change pixel points. Finally, the false-detection points predicted by the Fast-PCANet are further corrected by region filling and filtering to obtain the final binary change map of the damage scene. Comparisons with typical PCANet-based change detection algorithms are made on a dataset of infrared-polarized images. The experimental results show that the proposed Fast-PCANet method improves the PCC and the Kappa coefficient of infrared polarization images over infrared intensity images by 6.77% and 13.67%, respectively. Meanwhile, the inference speed can be more than seven times faster. The results verify that the proposed approach is effective and efficient for the change detection task with infrared polarization imaging. The study can be applied to the damage assessment field and has great potential for object recognition, material classification, and polarization remote sensing.
